1) Can the WAC Lighting WS-63718 Strip vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Either way. The 18 inch Strip LED wall light mounts vertically or horizontally, and its mounting method is listed as wall with up/down orientation, so you can run a pair down both sides of a mirror or a single unit across the top. Overall it measures 18 inches wide by 3 inches high, with an 18 inch backplate.
2) Will the WS-63718 cover my existing 4 inch octagon junction box, or do I need a new box?
No new box needed. A 4 inch conversion plate ships with the fixture for larger junction boxes, and the 18 inch backplate covers the opening. It is a hardwired fixture, so there is no cord or plug option.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Strip LED vanity light? My standard wall dimmer makes LEDs flicker.
This one needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/forward-phase dimmer is not the right control for it. The driver is integrated and the fixture accepts 120-240-277V.
4) Is the WS-63718 wall light approved for a bathroom with a shower, or for outdoor use under a covered porch?
It carries a Damp location rating with IP44 ingress protection and ETL/cETL listings, so it is fine in a bathroom and in covered outdoor locations. Damp is not wet rated, so keep it out of direct spray and off uncovered exteriors. It is also rated for installation in closets.
