WAC Lighting WAC-WS-73123 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the color temperature on the WAC Parallax 24 inch vanity light be changed after it ships?
Yes. The Parallax has a 3-CCT switch inside the canopy that is reachable during installation, letting you set 2700K warm, 3000K warm white, or 3500K white. Each unit ships factory pre-set to the temperature in its part number (27 for 2700K, 30 for 3000K, 35 for 3500K), so a job that standardizes on one color can be ordered pre-set and still field-adjusted if the spec changes.
2) Will the WAC Parallax vanity light mount to a standard pancake junction box?
It does. The Parallax is hardwired 120V AC LED with no separate driver or transformer, and WAC states it fits a pancake junction box. Backplate length is 6.75 inches and the fixture projects 2.75 inches off the wall, so confirm your box location falls within that backplate.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Parallax LED vanity light?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. It will not perform correctly on a 0-10V or magnetic low voltage control. The fixture draws 11W at 120V, so check the dimmer's minimum load if you are putting only one or two on a circuit.
4) Is the Parallax vanity light safe over a shower or in a steam-heavy bathroom?
The Parallax is damp location rated and IP44, suitable for indoor or covered outdoor use. That covers a normal bathroom including humidity from a shower, but it is not a wet-location fixture for direct spray inside a shower enclosure.
5) Is the WAC Parallax wall light ADA compliant for a commercial restroom?
No. The Parallax is not ADA compliant, and it projects 2.75 inches from the wall. For a corridor or restroom where protruding-object limits apply, specify an ADA compliant fixture instead.
6) Can this 24 inch Parallax fixture be installed vertically beside a mirror instead of above it?
Yes. Parallax mounts vertically or horizontally, and it is listed for wall mounting with up or down orientation, so a pair flanking a mirror works the same as a single bar over it. Overall width is 24 inches.
7) Does the WAC Parallax meet California Title 24 for a bathroom remodel?
Yes. The Parallax is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, with ETL and cETL certification. It is not Energy Star rated, so if a program specifically requires Energy Star this will not satisfy it.
8) Do I need to buy bulbs for the Parallax, and what happens when the LED fails?
Nothing to buy. It is a single integrated LED module, included, rated for an average 54,000 hours behind a white etched acrylic diffuser. The LED is not field-replaceable, so at end of life the fixture itself is replaced. That is the tradeoff against a lamped vanity bar for a property manager planning long-term maintenance.
9) How bright is the 24 inch Parallax, and is one enough for a bathroom vanity?
Output is 393 lumens at 11W, with a flood distribution through an etched acrylic diffuser. That is a soft, even line of light rather than a high-output task fixture, so for grooming at a mirror many installers run two units flanking the mirror or pair it with recessed or ceiling light above.
10) Is a 277V version of the WAC Parallax available for a commercial panel?
The standard Parallax is 120V AC. WAC offers 277V and 240V as special order, so a commercial job on a 277V lighting panel has to be specified that way rather than taken from the standard 120V stock configuration.
11) What finishes does the 24 inch WAC Parallax come in, and will they match across a building?
Three finishes: black, chrome, and brushed nickel, each available in all three factory color temperature presets. The body is aluminum, so a multi-unit order in one finish stays consistent across openings in a hotel or multi-family job.
