1) Does the WAC Tower 6621 bollard come with a transformer, or do I need to add one?
No transformer is included. The Tower 6621 is a 12V fixture, so it needs a magnetic or electronic low voltage power supply, sold separately. It accepts 9-15V AC input and draws 5.5W (6VA), so size the transformer's total VA load with that number in mind. If you already have a landscape lighting system running off a transformer, this taps straight into it.
2) What mounting hardware ships with the Tower LED bollard, and can I set it in concrete?
A guardian spike mounting accessory is in the box along with a 3ft lead wire and two gel filled direct burial wire nuts, so the spike-in-grade install needs nothing extra. For a permanent concrete-set install, the concrete pour kit M66-CON-KIT is a separate order. Note the fixture is not reversible-mount, so plan the base accordingly.
3) Which dimmer works with a 12V WAC Tower bollard?
On the 12V version, use a Magnetic Low Voltage (MLV) dimmer at the transformer. That gives smooth continuous dimming down to 10 percent. A standard incandescent or TRIAC wall dimmer is the wrong control for the 12V fixture; TRIAC or ELV applies to the 120V version and ELV to the 277V version.
4) How do I order the WAC 6621 bollard in the right color temperature and finish?
Four combinations are built from two choices each. Color temperature is 2700K or 3000K, and finish is black or bronze: 6621-27BK, 6621-27BZ, 6621-30BK, 6621-30BZ. Pick 2700K for a warm, lantern-like tone on residential landscape runs and 3000K where you want a slightly crisper white to match newer fixtures.
5) I need line voltage, not 12V. Does this bollard come in 120V?
The Tower bollard family is offered in 12V, 120V and 277V, but the 6621 is the 12V version and must be fed from a low voltage transformer. If you are running line voltage directly to the location, order the 120V or 277V Tower model instead rather than trying to feed this one.
6) How tall is the Tower bollard and how much of a footprint does it take on a walkway edge?
It stands 30 inches tall with a 5 inch square body (5 inches wide by 5 inches deep), and the base plate is 5 inches in diameter and 1 inch high. That is a compact footprint for a path or bed edge, and the 30 inch height puts the light above low plantings.
7) Will the Tower bollard hold up in coastal or irrigation-heavy sites?
The housing is cast K-alloy aluminum, and the fixture is factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating, which covers high pressure water jets, so sprinkler spray and washdown are not an issue. It is UL and cUL listed and rated for wet locations.
8) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC Tower bollard, or is the whole fixture disposable?
The LED is integrated, not a lamp in a socket, so there is no bulb to change. It is rated for 60,000 hours, which on a dusk-to-dawn landscape schedule is many years of service. Plan maintenance around fixture replacement rather than relamping.
