Uber-thin edge-lit LED panels provide a downward task light free of any hot spots as well as an upward ambient illumination. Even better, the design can be rotated around to provide direct or indirect illumination as the needs arise when installed in a bath. 1) Can the WAC Lighting WS-6736 Line vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or is it horizontal only?
Both. The WS-6736 is a 36 inch by 4 inch edge-lit LED bar that mounts horizontally above a mirror or vertically alongside one, and the panel itself rotates so you can aim the light up, down, or straight out for task lighting. Wall mount, up/down orientation.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC WS-6736 vanity light?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. Standard incandescent or TRIAC forward-phase dimmers are the wrong type here, and using one is the usual cause of flicker or a dead bottom end on the dimming curve. With a matched ELV dimmer the fixture dims smoothly and continuously.
3) Is the WS-6736 safe to use in a bathroom near a shower?
It carries a damp location rating and an IP44 rating, so it is fine for a bathroom or a covered outdoor spot. Damp rated means it handles humidity and condensation, not direct water contact, so do not put it inside a shower enclosure or anywhere it takes spray.
4) Does the WAC Line WS-6736 need a separate driver or transformer box on the wall?
No exterior driver box. The 120V transformer measures 2 x 1.38 x 1.02 inches and installs inside the junction box behind the fixture, so nothing shows on the wall. It is hardwired, 120V, drawing 29W. A 277V version exists by special order.
5) Is the WS-6736 bright enough to be the only light over a bathroom vanity?
At 2218 lumens from a single integrated LED array, the 36 inch Line bar carries a standard two-sink vanity on its own. The edge-lit acrylic diffuser spreads a flood beam with no hot spots, and rotating the panel lets you split it between downward task light and upward ambient fill.
6) What color temperature and finishes does the WAC Line WS-6736 come in?
One color temperature, 3000K warm white, in two finishes: Brushed Aluminum (WS-6736-30-AL) and Black (WS-6736-30-BK). The body is aluminum with a white edge-lit acrylic diffuser, so the finish is the housing color only.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC WS-6736, or is the whole fixture disposable?
The LED is integrated, not a lamp in a socket, so there is nothing to relamp. It is rated at 80,000 hours, which is why WAC treats it as a maintenance-free fixture. For an MRO buyer standardizing a property, plan on fixture replacement rather than lamp stocking.
