Uber-thin edge-lit LED panels provide a downward task light free of any hot spots as well as an upward ambient illumination. Even better, the design can be rotated around to provide direct or indirect illumination as the needs arise when installed in a bath. 1) Can the WAC Lighting WS-6724 Line vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Both. The WS-6724 mounts horizontally above a mirror or vertically alongside it, and the panel itself rotates so you can aim the light down for task use, up for ambient, or indirect. It measures 24 inches wide by 4 inches high, so a vertical run beside a mirror needs about 24 inches of clear wall.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC WS-6724 LED vanity light?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. Standard incandescent or MLV dimmers will give you flicker or dropout; with an ELV dimmer the integrated LED dims smoothly and continuously. Budget the ELV dimmer into the job, it is not supplied with the fixture.
3) Is the WS-6724 vanity light safe directly over a bathroom sink or in a shower area?
It is damp location rated and IP44, which covers a vanity over a sink and covered outdoor use. Damp rated is not wet rated, so do not put it inside a shower enclosure or anywhere it takes direct spray or standing water.
4) Does the transformer for the WAC WS-6724 fit inside a standard junction box?
Yes. The 120V transformer is 2 x 1.38 x 1.02 inches and installs inside the junction box, so there is no separate remote driver to find a home for. The fixture is hardwired, not plug-in. A 277V version exists by special order.
5) Is the WS-6724 ADA compliant for a commercial or multi-family restroom?
Yes, the WS-6724 is listed ADA compliant, and it is ETL and cETL certified for US and Canadian installs. One note for California work: it is Title 20 compliant but not Title 24 compliant, and it does not carry Energy Star.
6) Is 1478 lumens enough light for a bathroom vanity?
The 24 inch WS-6724 puts out 1478 lumens at 22W in 3000K warm white, with a flood distribution. That is adequate as the primary light over a single vanity in a typical bathroom. For a double vanity or a larger bath, run two fixtures or pair it with ceiling lighting. The edge-lit acrylic diffuser spreads the output so you do not get hot spots in the mirror.
7) Do I need to order bulbs for the WAC Line WS-6724, and can the LED be replaced later?
No bulbs to order. The LED is integrated into the fixture and included, rated at 80,000 average hours, so it is a maintenance-free unit rather than a lamp you relamp. When the LED eventually fails, the fixture is replaced, not the lamp. That is the trade-off property managers should weigh against a lamped vanity bar.
8) What finishes does the 24 inch WAC Line vanity light come in, and will the color temperature match across a building?
Two finishes: brushed aluminum (WS-6724-30-AL) and black (WS-6724-30-BK). Both are 3000K only, so every unit matches in color temperature across a project. The body is aluminum with a white edge-lit acrylic diffuser.
