3in Inground Recessed Light LED 12V with Adjustable Beam Angle and Integral Brightness Control 3000K

Function meets durability with this LED 3in inground light available in 12V or 120V and 2700K or 3000K color temperatures. A twist of the light engine inside of the housing at indexed intervals allows fixed beam angle adjustment from flood to spot while a mechanical dial at the base of the light engine provides smooth integral brightness control. The light engine can be tilted in two 10 degree intervals and rotated to cast light in any direction. One sku fits most applications, eliminating the need to choose from dozens of light bulbs with varying light outputs when compared with traditional landscape lights. This well light has a removeable cover that is gasketed to create a water tight seal with IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. Includes a 3ft lead wire with two gel filled direct burial wire nuts. Casted using a special k-alloy aluminum that is engineered to withstand the most challenging environments. 1) Does the WAC 5031-30 inground light come with a transformer, or do I need to order one separately?
You need a power supply. The 5031-30 is a 12V fixture and requires a magnetic or electronic power supply, sold separately. What ships with the light is a lead wire and two gel-filled direct burial wire nuts for the splice. If you want the fixture to dim, the dimming is smooth and continuous on a remote Magnetic Low Voltage (MLV) dimmer, so spec the transformer and dimmer to match.
2) Should I get the Bronze on Brass or Bronze on Aluminum finish for a coastal property?
For coastal or marine sites, take the Bronze on Brass (-BBR) version, 5031-30BBR. Solid brass coated in bronze is the finish WAC recommends where salt air and corrosive elements are a factor. The Bronze on Aluminum version, 5031-30BZ, uses the cast k-alloy aluminum housing and is the normal choice for inland landscape and commercial work.
3) Do I have to pick a beam angle when I order this WAC 3in inground light?
No. Beam angle is set in the field, not at order. Twisting the light engine inside the housing at indexed intervals moves it from flood to spot across 15, 30, 45 and 60 degrees. A mechanical dial at the base of the engine sets brightness, and output runs 70 to 505 lumens at 2 to 12W. That is the point of the design: one SKU covers what would otherwise be a shelf full of different lamp wattages.
4) Is the WAC 5031-30 safe to install in an area that floods or where sprinklers hit it?
The removable cover is gasketed for a watertight seal and the fixture carries an IP67 rating, protected from temporary immersion in water, and it is listed UL and cUL 1838 for wet locations. Standing irrigation water and sprinkler spray are within what it is built for.
5) Can I aim this well light at a wall or tree, or does it only shine straight up?
It aims. The light engine tilts in two 10 degree increments for a total of plus or minus 20 degrees off vertical, and it rotates a full circle so you can throw the beam in any direction. Combined with the 15 to 60 degree beam adjustment, one fixture handles both a narrow grazing wash up a facade and a wide flood on a canopy.
6) What input voltage does this fixture accept, and will a long wire run dim it out?
Input is 9-15V AC at 50/60Hz, 2-12W (23VA). The driver maintains constant lumen output against voltage drop, so fixtures at the far end of a long landscape run hold the same brightness as the ones near the transformer instead of going yellow. Stay inside the 9-15V window at the fixture when you size the run.
7) What color temperature and color rendering does the 5031-30 put out?
The 5031-30 is the 3000K version, a neutral warm white. WAC also builds the same 3in inground fixture in 2700K, ordered as a separate number, so if you are matching existing landscape fixtures on a property check which one is already in the ground. CRI is 85 on both.
8) Can I set this inground light into a concrete walkway or pour?
Yes, a concrete pour kit is available for the 3in inground fixture, along with other mounting and glare control accessories, all sold separately. In soil the fixture goes in with its direct burial wire nuts and lead wire without additional hardware.
9) How long does the LED in this WAC inground light last before it needs service?
The LED is integral, not a replaceable lamp, and WAC rates it at 70,000 hours. On a typical dusk-to-dawn landscape schedule that is a very long service interval, which matters on an inground fixture where getting back to the light engine means lifting the gasketed cover.
