1) Can the WAC HR-8402E 4 inch housing be installed in direct contact with insulation?
No. The HR-8402E is a non-IC housing, so insulation has to be held back from it. If the ceiling cavity is insulated and you cannot maintain clearance around the can, you need an IC-rated housing instead.
2) Do I need to buy a separate transformer for the WAC HR-8402E low voltage recessed housing?
No separate transformer is needed. An integral electronic transformer ships with the housing, rated 50W, and it runs on 120 VAC 50/60Hz line voltage, so you feed it standard 120V branch wiring and the housing steps it down for the low voltage lamp.
3) Is the WAC HR-8402E for new construction or can I use it in an existing finished ceiling?
