WAC Lighting WAC-PD-18041 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Eternal pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The driver is universal input, 120V / 240V / 277V, and it sits inside the canopy, so the same part number works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits with no separate transformer. It is a hardwired fixture for ceiling mounting.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC Eternal LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV), TRIAC, or 0-10V dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/magnetic low voltage dimmer is the wrong control for it. Note that 0-10V requires a control wire pulled to the fixture, so confirm which method you are specifying before the rough-in is closed up.
3) Can the Eternal LED pendant go in a covered porch or over a bathtub area?
It is damp location rated and IP44, so a covered exterior porch, a soffit, or a bathroom is within its rating. It is not rated for wet locations, meaning direct rain or spray exposure, so it needs to stay fully under cover.
4) Does the WAC Eternal pendant meet California Title 24 for a residential project?
Yes, it is listed as Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant. It is ETL and cETL certified for US and Canadian installs. It does not carry Energy Star, and it is not an ADA compliant fixture, which matters if you are hanging it in a corridor or other path of travel where projection limits apply.
5) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC Eternal pendant, or is the whole fixture disposable when it fails?
The LED is integrated, not a replaceable lamp, so there is no socket or bulb to stock. It is rated for an average 50,000 hours and the light source ships with the fixture. For an MRO or property maintenance program that means no relamping line item, but a failed board is a fixture-level repair rather than a bulb swap.
6) What size canopy does the Eternal pendant cover on the ceiling, and will it hide a standard 4-inch octagon box?
The canopy measures 7.5 inches by 7.5 inches, which covers a standard 4 inch round or octagon ceiling box with room to spare. Housing is steel and the canopy is low profile, with the universal driver concealed inside it, so no remote driver location is needed above the ceiling.
7) What finishes is the 41-inch Eternal pendant available in?
Two: black (PD-18041-BK) and chrome (PD-18041-CH), both in 3000K. Pick chrome where you want it to read with polished chrome or stainless trim in the space, black where you want the ring to hold its silhouette against a light ceiling.
8) Can I get the WAC Eternal pendant in a color temperature other than 3000K?
The stocked configuration is 3000K. WAC offers custom CCT as a special order on the Eternal series, so a different color temperature has to be arranged as a special-order build rather than pulled from standard stock.
9) How deep is the Eternal ring itself, and does it need slope-ceiling hardware?
The ring is 41.38 inches across and 5 inches tall in profile. It hangs from electrified aircraft cables off a ceiling canopy, so it is intended for a flat ceiling; cable suspension does not self-level on a pitched ceiling the way a swivel stem canopy does.
