WAC Lighting WAC-PD-55912 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Houdini PD-55912 pendant be hung from a sloped ceiling?
Yes, the Houdini PD-55912 can be mounted on a sloped ceiling. It hangs on down rods from a ceiling-mounted canopy, and the fixture also offers multiple orientation options for the wand arrangement. The round backplate measures 11.75 inches, so plan for that footprint on the ceiling.
2) How high a ceiling can the Houdini PD-55912 pendant hang from, and what rods come in the box?
Overall hanging height adjusts from 14 inches up to 125 inches. The box includes three 12 inch down rods and one 6 inch down rod, plus 10 feet (120 inches) of wire so the pendant can be dropped to a total of 120 inches. If you need more drop than the supplied rods give you on a tall or double-height space, additional down rods are ordered separately.
3) What clearance do I need to plan for the WAC Houdini PD-55912 over a table or island?
It is a wide fixture: 46.69 inches across, 55 inches on the long dimension and 27 inches in height for the fixture body. Size the run of counter or table under it accordingly, then set drop with the rods to get your sightline clearance.
4) Will the Houdini PD-55912 work on 277V commercial power?
Yes. The Houdini PD-55912 ships with a universal input driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same part number works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC Houdini PD-55912 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer or a 0-10V control. Those are the two protocols the integrated driver supports, and on either one the dimming is smooth and continuous. A standard incandescent/TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the right control for it.
6) Can the Houdini PD-55912 pendant go in a covered porch or a bathroom?
It carries a Damp location rating with IP44 ingress protection, so it is suitable indoors and in covered exterior locations such as a soffit, porch ceiling or breezeway. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
7) Does the Houdini PD-55912 meet California Title 24 for a specified job?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what a California spec job will ask for. It is also ETL and cETL certified for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star listed and not ADA compliant, so do not use it where a protruding-object ADA allowance is required.
8) Do I need to buy bulbs for the WAC Houdini PD-55912, and can the LEDs be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The Houdini uses integrated LEDs, 12 emitters in total, supplied in the fixture. They are not user-replaceable lamps, so the whole fixture is the maintenance item, rated at an average 40,000 hours. Output is 995 lumens at 61.06W.
9) What color temperature is the Houdini PD-55912, and can I get it in another CCT to match existing fixtures?
The PD-55912 is 3000K warm white as built. WAC offers custom CCT on the Houdini by special order, so if a building is standardized on 2700K or 3500K that has to be placed as a special-order configuration rather than picked off the shelf.
10) What finish and materials does the Houdini PD-55912 pendant use?
Body is aluminum in a Black with Aged Brass finish, and the shade is a cylindrical white sanded acrylic diffuser with a solid edge. The acrylic diffuser is what gives the even, glare-softened wash rather than visible LED points, and the beam is a flood distribution.
