WAC Lighting WAC-WS-W65607 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Mod WS-W65607 wall light be used outdoors in a rainy, exposed location?
Yes. The Mod LED sconce is Wet Location rated and carries an IP65 rating along with ETL and cETL listings, so it can go on an exposed wall with no overhang. The die-cast aluminum body, powder coated finish and factory sealed light engine are what get it there.
2) Will the WAC Mod 5.25 inch LED sconce work on 277V commercial circuits?
It will. The Mod carries a universal input voltage driver covering 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture can be used on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits without ordering a different part number. It is hardwired, not plug-in.
3) Is this WAC Mod sconce ADA compliant for a corridor or exterior egress path?
Yes, the Mod is ADA Compliant, and it is also Title 24 and Title 20 compliant for California projects. At 6 inches wide and 5.25 inches high, it is a low-profile wall mount rather than a projecting lantern.
4) Will the Mod sconce cover my existing outdoor junction box?
The backplate measures 4.88 inches, with the fixture overall 6 inches wide and 5.25 inches high. That covers a standard 4 inch round or 4 inch square outlet box, but it will not hide a larger weatherproof box or an oversized cutout in the siding.
5) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Mod WS-W65607?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The Mod dims smoothly and continuously on ELV control; a standard incandescent or MLV dimmer is the wrong type for this driver and can cause flicker or a limited dimming range.
6) Can the Mod LED wall light be mounted facing down for pathway lighting, or does it have to go up?
Either way. The Mod is a wall mount fixture that can be installed up or down, so the same unit works as a downward wash over a walkway or an uplight on a facade. The beam is a flood distribution through a white glass diffuser, which gives even spread rather than a tight spot.
7) How much light does the 12W Mod LED sconce put out, and do I need to buy bulbs?
No bulbs to buy. It is a single integrated LED engine, included, drawing 12W and delivering 1165 lumens at 3000K warm white, rated for an average 70,000 hours. The LED is not field replaceable, which is the tradeoff for the sealed wet-location construction.
8) What finishes does the WAC Mod 5.25 inch LED wall light come in, and are they all the same color temperature?
Four finishes: black (WS-W65607-BK), bronze (-BZ), graphite (-GH) and white (-WT). All four are 3000K. The finishes are weather resistant powder coat over die-cast aluminum, so they hold up on exterior walls and are a reasonable match when you are standardizing finishes across a building.
9) Is the WAC Mod LED wall light Energy Star certified?
It is not Energy Star listed. It does meet California Title 24 and Title 20, which is what most specs on the west coast are actually asking for on exterior wall lighting. At 12W for 1165 lumens it is efficient enough to sit inside typical exterior lighting power allowances.
10) Can I get the Mod sconce in 2700K or 4000K instead of 3000K?
The standard build is 3000K. WAC offers custom CCT on the Mod by special order, so a different color temperature is possible but is not a stock configuration of this model.
