1) Does the WAC Interbeam 5411 accent light need a transformer, or can it run on line voltage?
The 5411 Interbeam is a 12V low voltage fixture and will not run on 120V line voltage. It needs a 12V landscape power supply, sold separately. WAC's recommended stainless steel outdoor transformers are the 9075-TRN-SS (75W), 9150-TRN-SS (150W), 9300-TRN-SS (300W) and 9600-TRN-SS (600W). Input range on the fixture is 9-15V AC, so it tolerates some voltage drop down the run.
2) What is the difference between the WAC Interbeam 5411 and the 5311?
Same fixture, two output levels. The 5411 is the 3W Bright version at 245 lumens; the 5311 is the 6W Brighter version at 475 lumens. Pick the 5311 for tall trees or long throws and the 5411 where you want accent-level output on shrubs, facades or flags. Order by part number, because the housings look identical.
3) Can I aim the WAC Interbeam for both a tight spot and a wider wash, or do I have to pick a beam angle when ordering?
No beam choice at ordering. An adjustable dial on the fixture sets the optic anywhere from a 20 degree spot to 60 degrees and every step between, so one part number covers tight uplighting on a trunk and a wider spread on a wall. Aiming is handled by the knuckle, and a 360 degree adjustable glare guard plus a detachable shroud control spill toward windows and sightlines.
4) What comes in the box with the 5411 Interbeam, and what else do I need to buy to finish the install?
Each 5411 ships with a detachable shroud, a mounting stake for low voltage use, lead wire and direct burial gel filled wire nuts, and the LED is integrated so there is no lamp to buy. What you still need is the 12V transformer and the landscape cable for the run. Note the stated wire length on the fixture is 36 inches, so plan your splice point at the stake.
5) Will the Interbeam 5411 survive sprinklers, snow and standing water in a bed?
It is rated for wet locations, UL and cUL listed and IP66 rated, so direct spray from irrigation and weather is within rating. The body is K-Alloy aluminum with finned heat sinking and a clear glass lens, and the LED engine is rated 70,000 hours. Standard finishes are bronze and black.
6) Can I dim the WAC 5411 landscape spot, and what kind of dimmer do I use?
Yes, it dims smooth and continuous, but only on a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer installed on the line side of the 12V transformer. An ELV or standard incandescent dimmer is the wrong control for it.
7) Which color temperature should I order for the Interbeam 5411, 2700K or 3000K?
Both are stocked in bronze and black. 2700K reads warmer and is the usual pick for residential plantings and warm stone or brick; 3000K is slightly cleaner and holds up better on white facades, flags and green foliage. Mixing the two on the same property will show, so standardize per elevation. CRI is 85 either way.
8) Can I buy the WAC Interbeam 5411 in bulk for a multi-unit property?
Yes. Along with single units, the 5411 is offered in twelve packs in each finish and color temperature: 5411-27BK-12, 5411-27BZ-12, 5411-30BK-12 and 5411-30BZ-12. Useful when you are standardizing a whole community on one accent fixture.
9) How big is the WAC 5411 Interbeam fixture, and can I mount it on a wall instead of the stake?
It measures 5.5 by 4.13 by 2.32 inches, compact enough to hide in a planting bed. The included stake is for low voltage ground mounting, and the fixture is not reversible mount, so plan the knuckle orientation for the surface you are fixing to. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in.
10) Does the WAC Interbeam 5411 meet California Title 24 for outdoor lighting?
Yes, the 5411 is listed as Title 24 compliant and Energy Star, which matters on California residential and commercial exterior scopes where the inspector checks the fixture schedule.
11) Do I ever have to change the lamp in the Interbeam, like an MR16 landscape light?
No. The Interbeam uses a single integrated LED engine rather than a replaceable MR16, so there is no relamping cycle. Heat is pulled off the engine by the finned aluminum body, and the LED is rated for 70,000 hours. The tradeoff is that output level is fixed by part number, so choose 3W or 6W up front.
