1) Does the WAC Boxi 5 inch sconce need a driver or transformer, and what junction box does it mount to?
No separate driver or transformer. The Boxi WS-45105 uses AC LED technology at 120V and mounts directly to a pancake junction box, which is what makes it workable in shallow wall cavities and remodel work. It is hardwired, wall mount only.
2) Can I change the color temperature on the Boxi sconce after it ships, or do I have to order the right one?
You can set it in the field. A Tri-CCT switch inside the canopy is reachable during installation and toggles between 2700K, 3000K and 3500K. Fixtures leave the factory pre-set at 3000K. Ordering is by finish and CCT code (for example WS-45105-30-BN), but the switch means one stocked fixture covers all three temperatures on a multi-unit job.
3) Will the Boxi WS-45105 work with the dimmers already in my building?
It dims on electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmers, smooth and continuous. It will not perform correctly on 0-10V or on magnetic low voltage controls, so if your panels or wall boxes are running something other than ELV or TRIAC, plan on swapping the dimmer.
4) Can the Boxi 5 inch sconce go in a covered exterior entry or a bathroom?
Yes for damp locations. The Boxi carries a Damp location rating with an IP44 rating and ETL/cETL listing, so it suits bathrooms and covered outdoor areas like a porch ceiling overhang. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
5) Does the WAC Boxi sconce meet ADA and California Title 24 for a commercial corridor?
It is ADA compliant and meets both Title 20 and Title 24. That combination covers the usual pinch points on hospitality, multi-family and healthcare corridor specs in California jurisdictions. It is not Energy Star rated.
6) How much light does the 5 inch Boxi actually put out, and is it enough for a hallway or stair?
288 lumens total at 6W, split up and down through a frosted etched white acrylic diffuser with a flood distribution. That is accent and wayfinding light, an up and down wall wash, not general room illumination. For a corridor or stairwell you space them for a rhythm of wall washes rather than relying on one fixture to light the space.
7) Can the Boxi cube sconce be installed sideways, or does it only mount one way?
It can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The cube body throws light out both ends, so orientation decides whether you get an up/down wall wash or a side-to-side one. Worth settling before the rough-in so the canopy screws land the way you want.
8) What size is the Boxi WS-45105 on the wall and what is it made of?
It is a 5 inch square: 5 inch height, 5 inch width, with a 5 inch backplate. Body is solid aluminum with an acrylic diffuser. The backplate covers a standard pancake box footprint.
9) Are bulbs replaceable on the Boxi sconce, and how long do the LEDs last?
The LEDs are integrated and concealed in the fixture, so there is nothing to relamp. Rated average life is 54,000 hours. For a property manager that means the maintenance plan is fixture replacement at end of life, not a bulb cart.
10) What finishes does the Boxi 5 inch sconce come in for matching existing hardware?
Four finishes: aged brass, black, brushed nickel and white. Each is available across all three CCT codes, so you can match a brushed nickel run on one floor and an aged brass run on another without changing fixture model.
