1) Can the WAC Sodor WS-W15710 wall light be mounted on an existing junction box without adding a driver?
Yes. The Sodor WS-W15710 uses WAC's ACLED technology, so no separate driver or transformer is needed and it installs over a standard or pancake junction box. It is a hardwired 120V fixture running 15W, so you are wiring line voltage straight to the fixture.
2) Will the Sodor WS-W15710 backplate cover the hole and plate left by my old sconce?
The backplate measures 6 inches by 6 inches, and the fixture itself is 6.88 inches high by 10.63 inches wide. A 6 inch square plate covers a standard 4 inch octagon or round box easily, but if your old fixture left a larger painted outline or an oversized plate on the siding, you will see it.
3) Is the Sodor LED sconce rated for a fully exposed exterior wall, or only a covered entry?
Fully exposed is fine. The Sodor carries a Wet location rating and IP65, with a factory sealed light engine and a weather resistant powder coated finish, so it can take direct rain. It is also listed for indoor use, which makes it workable for a vestibule or breezeway on the same building.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Sodor WS-W15710?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer for smooth, continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/leading-edge dimmer is not the right control for this fixture and is the usual cause of flicker or drop-out on ACLED sconces.
5) Does the Sodor sconce meet dark sky requirements for an ordinance that restricts uplight?
The Sodor is Dark Sky rated, with a die cast aluminum shade that gives glare cutoff. Note the mounting method includes up/down orientation, so the direction you install it in determines whether light goes skyward. For a dark sky jurisdiction, mount it downlight.
6) Will the Sodor WS-W15710 satisfy a California Title 24 residential outdoor lighting spec?
It is Title 20 compliant but not Title 24 compliant, so it should not be used where a Title 24 compliant luminaire is required. It also is not ADA compliant and is not Energy Star rated. For ETL purposes it carries ETL and cETL listing, which covers US and Canadian installs.

No bulbs to buy. The Sodor is a single integrated LED module, supplied in the fixture, rated at an average 54,000 hours. There is no socket, so when the engine reaches end of life the fixture is replaced rather than relamped, which is worth knowing if you are standardizing a property on it.
8) How much light does the Sodor WS-W15710 put out and what color is it?
1200 lumens at 3000K from a 15W integrated LED, through a white diffuser lens with a flood distribution. 3000K is a warm white that reads closer to incandescent than the cooler 4000K often used on commercial exteriors, so match it to the other fixtures on the elevation.
