1) What is the WAC Lighting 8001 joiner cable used for on a 12V outdoor strip light run?
The 8001 is a male-to-female joiner cable for WAC InvisiLED 12V Outdoor Strip Light. Its job is to create a gap in a strip run, so you can jump the feed around a corner, across a gap in a step or wall, or between two separate lit sections without cutting power to the downstream strip. It is a connector accessory only, no LEDs.
2) Can the WAC 8001 joiner cable be buried, submerged, or used in a wet landscape location?
Yes. The joiner cable connectors are IP68 rated for wet locations and continuous immersion up to 5 meters underwater, with gaskets for a watertight seal. That covers in-ground landscape runs, planter beds, pool and water feature surrounds, and anywhere runoff collects. The seal only performs if the gaskets are seated and the connector fully mated.
3) What lengths does the WAC 8001 joiner cable come in?
Four lengths: 6 inch (8001-6BK), 12 inch (8001-12BK), 72 inch (8001-72BK), and 120 inch (8001-120BK). Pick by the size of the gap you need to span. The 6 and 12 inch versions handle corners, step risers, and short breaks between strip sections; the 72 and 120 inch versions carry the feed across a longer dead zone, such as from one planter or stair flight to the next. All are black.
4) Will the WAC 8001 joiner cable work with 24V strip or line voltage tape light?
No. The 8001 is built for the WAC Landscape 12V outdoor strip light system and its male/female connector ends. Use it on 12V InvisiLED outdoor strip only. Anything on another voltage or another manufacturer's connector needs that system's own accessories.
5) Do I need anything besides joiner cables to lay out a WAC 12V outdoor strip light run?
Joiner cables only bridge gaps. A full layout also uses lead wires to bring power from the supply to the first strip section, and 3-way or 4-way connectors where a run branches. Decide the whole path first, then count how many gaps need jumping and at what length, and how many branch points you have.
6) How much room do I need to hide the WAC 8001 joiner cable connector behind a channel or trim?
The connector body measures 6 x 1.25 x 0.75 inches, so plan a pocket or void at least that size where the two ends mate. In stair nosings, under cap rail, or behind a planter lip, that is usually the tight spot on the install, not the cable run itself.
7) Is the WAC 8001 joiner cable housing metal or plastic, and will it hold up outdoors?
