This multi-purpose Wet Location, Energy Star Rated flush mount can be mounted without a transformer on a ceiling or on a wall in a junction box. Includes an optional retrofit kit with an A19 socket designed to fit into an existing 5" or 6" recessed unit. Model number FM-306-930JB does not include the A19 socket.

1) Can the WAC Disc FM-306 flush mount be used outdoors on a covered porch or in a shower?
Wet Location Listed, so yes to both. The Disc FM-306 carries an IP65 ETL and cETL wet location listing, which covers direct exposure to rain and spray, not just damp locations like a covered soffit. That makes it usable over a tub or shower, on an exterior ceiling, or in a parking garage stairwell.
2) Does the WAC FM-306-930JB need a transformer or remote driver?
No. The Disc FM-306 runs on ACLED driverless technology and wires straight to 120V line voltage, 50/60Hz. There is no transformer, no remote driver, and nothing to find space for above the ceiling. It hardwires directly into a junction box.
3) Will the WAC Disc FM-306 mount over a standard ceiling junction box, and can it go on a wall?
It mounts to a junction box on either a ceiling or a wall, in any orientation. The 7.39 inch backplate covers the box, and the fixture stands only 1.25 inches off the surface, so it works in a low-clearance corridor or a stairwell where a pendant or a deeper drum would be in the way.
4) Can I use the WAC FM-306 to replace old 5 or 6 inch recessed cans without opening the ceiling?
Not with the FM-306-930JB by itself. That model is the junction box version and does not include the A19 socket adapter. The retrofit kit that screws into an existing 4, 5, or 6 inch recessed can is WAC's FM-306-RFK, ordered separately. Buy the fixture and the RFK together if the plan is to convert cans; buy the fixture alone if you are landing it on a J-box.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC Disc LED flush mount, and will it dim smoothly?
It needs an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On an ELV control it dims smoothly from 100 percent down to 5 percent. A standard incandescent or MLV dimmer is the wrong control here and is the usual cause of flicker or drop-out complaints on driverless AC LED fixtures, so specify ELV on the order for the room.
6) Is the WAC Disc FM-306 ADA compliant for a corridor or an egress path?
Yes, and the 1.25 inch depth is why. ADA limits how far a wall-mounted fixture can project into a circulation path, and the low profile Disc is listed ADA compliant on both wall and ceiling applications. It is also Energy Star rated and CEC Title 24 compliant, which matters on California projects and on utility rebate paperwork.
7) How bright is the 7.4 inch WAC Disc flush mount and what color light does it put out?
15 watts at 3000K, a warm white that reads close to a traditional incandescent rather than the bluish cast of a 4000K or 5000K lamp. CRI is 90, so paint colors, wood tone, and skin tone hold up under it, which is what you want in a unit interior, a lobby, or a hospitality corridor. Multiple LEDs behind an opaque acrylic diffuser spread the light evenly with no socket shadow through the lens.
8) Do I need to buy bulbs for the WAC Disc FM-306 flush mount, and can the LED be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The light source is an integrated LED module, supplied with the fixture, rated at 50,000 hours.
