WAC Lighting WAC-FM-45008 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC York FM-45008 flush mount be installed on a wall, or is it ceiling only?
The 8 inch York LED flush mount mounts either on the ceiling or on a wall. Same fixture, same backplate, no separate wall kit. It is a hardwired fixture, so it needs a supplied junction box behind it.
2) Will the York FM-45008 fit over a pancake junction box?
Yes. The York flush mount runs 120V AC LED technology with no remote driver or transformer to hide, so it sits directly on a pancake box. The backplate is 4 inches by 4 inches, and the fixture body is 8 inches across by 2.5 inches deep, so the 8 inch canopy covers a standard box opening with room to spare.
3) What dimmer do I need for the WAC York 8 inch LED flush mount?
An electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The integrated LED dims smoothly and continuously on ELV control. A standard incandescent or TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control for it, so spec the ELV type when you order the wall controls for the job.
4) Can the York FM-45008 go in a bathroom or a covered porch?
Yes, in damp locations. The York flush mount carries a damp location rating with IP44 ingress protection, which covers bathrooms, laundry rooms and covered exterior ceilings such as a porch or breezeway. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
5) Does the WAC York FM-45008 meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements?
Yes on both. The York flush mount is listed Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it is ADA compliant, which matters when it is wall mounted in a corridor. It is ETL and cETL listed for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star rated.
6) How much light does the 8 inch York LED flush mount put out, and what color is it?
873 lumens at 15 watts, in a 3000K warm white with a flood distribution through a tempered opal glass diffuser. That is a good match for hallways, entries and closets where you want even wash rather than a hot spot. For a corridor run, space them by the coverage you need rather than treating one as a whole-room source.
7) What finishes does the WAC York 8 inch flush mount come in, and what is the part number for each?
Two finishes: Aged Brass, ordered as FM-45008-AB, and Brushed Nickel, ordered as FM-45008-BN. Both are the 3000K version. The body is aluminum with a tempered glass diffuser, so the finish is on metal hardware rather than plated plastic.
8) Can I get the York FM-45008 in 277V for a commercial job, or in a different color temperature?
The catalogued fixture is 120V at 3000K. WAC offers 277V, 240V, or custom CCT builds of this flush mount as a special order, so a commercial 277V corridor run is possible but it is not the stock configuration.
9) Do I ever have to relamp the York LED flush mount?
No. The light source is an integrated LED, included with the fixture, rated at 50,000 average hours. There is no socket and no replaceable bulb, so for a property manager it is a no-relamp fixture over its service life. If the LED ever fails, the fixture is replaced rather than lamped.
10) How far does the 8 inch York flush mount hang down from the ceiling?
2.5 inches of projection on an 8 inch round body. That keeps it clear of head height in a low-ceiling hallway, stair landing or closet where a semi-flush or a pendant would be in the way.
