1) Can the WAC Altar 6704 bollard be wired directly to 120V line voltage?
No. The Altar 6704 is a 12V low-voltage bollard with a 9-15V AC input, so it has to run off a magnetic or electronic landscape power supply, which is sold separately. Wiring it to 120V will destroy the LED engine. Plan the transformer VA budget around 8.0VA per fixture.
2) What is included for mounting the Altar LED bollard, and what do I need for a concrete install?
Each Altar bollard ships with a guardian spike mounting accessory and a 6ft lead wire with two gel-filled direct burial wire nuts, so a soil or planting-bed install needs nothing extra beyond the transformer and supply cable. For setting it in a hardscape or concrete pad, WAC offers a concrete pour kit, M6704-CON-KIT, ordered separately.
3) Will the Altar bollard survive sprinkler spray and irrigation overspray?
It is wet-location rated and factory sealed to IP66, which covers high-pressure water jets as well as rain, so sprinkler overspray is not an issue. Note IP66 is not a submersion rating, so it should not be installed where water pools over the fixture.
4) Can I dim the Altar 12V bollards from a standard wall dimmer?
Dimming works through the low-voltage supply, not at the fixture. The Altar is MLV dimmable and will run smooth, continuous dimming down to 10% with a magnetic low voltage dimmer ahead of the transformer. Each Altar draws 7.9W and 8.0VA, so load per fixture is small. Divide your transformer's rated VA by 8.0 and leave headroom for voltage drop over the run length. Input tolerance is 9-15V AC, which gives some margin at the far end of a long run.
6) What finish and color temperature combinations does the Altar 6704 bollard come in?
Six build options: black, bronze, or granite finish, each in 2700K or 3000K. The granite is a stone-like finish that reads less like painted metal in planting beds. All are the same die-cast K-alloy aluminum body. For matching existing site lighting, 2700K is the warmer, more residential look and 3000K reads slightly crisper on walkways.
7) Is a 7.9W bollard bright enough to light a walkway?
The Altar puts out up to 385 lumens through a frosted glass lens with a 130 degree beam spread, which is a wide, low-glare wash rather than a tight spot. That suits pathway and garden-bed lighting with fixtures spaced along the run. For lighting a parking area or a driveway apron, you want a taller pole fixture instead.
8) Can the LED be replaced in the Altar bollard, or is the whole fixture replaced at end of life?
