Modern Forms FH-W1803-44L-BZ – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Axis flush mount fan be installed on a covered porch or patio?
Yes. The Axis FH-W1803 carries a Wet location rating and is UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL Wet Location Listed for indoor or outdoor use, with a weather-resistant finish. That covers open porches, patios and other spots exposed to rain, not just damp-rated covered areas.
2) What blade spans does the Modern Forms Axis FH-W1803 come in?
Two sizes: the FH-W1803-44 at a 44 inch span and the FH-W1803-52. The 44 inch size suits medium rooms, bedrooms and medium kitchens; step up to the 52 for a larger living room or a wide covered patio. Blades are 18.38 inch ABS, three of them, at a 14 degree pitch.
3) What do I have to order separately for the Axis fan, and what comes in the box?
The battery-operated Bluetooth remote with wall cradle is included (Part No. F-RCBT-WT). A hardwired Bluetooth wall control is not included; that is Part No. F-WCBT-WT, ordered separately, and it can be configured for 3-way or 4-way switching if the room has multiple switch locations. There is also an optional cover to conceal the LED luminaire if you want the fan without a visible light.
4) Is the light on the Axis fan dimmable, and what color temperatures can I get?
The LED luminaire dims smoothly and continuously, and you pick the color temperature when you order: 2700K, 3000K or 3500K. Output is 1600 lumens at 90 CRI with a flood distribution. Specify one temperature across a project so the openings match.
5) What voltage and circuit does the Modern Forms Axis fan need?
It runs on 120V, standard residential and light commercial single-phase power, wired to a normal fan-rated outlet box. The motor is DC, so the fan converts internally and takes six speeds plus reversing from its controls rather than from a wall speed switch.
6) Can the Axis fan run in reverse for winter heat circulation?
Yes, the DC motor is reversible, so you can push air down in summer and pull it up along the ceiling in winter. Six speed steps let you run it slow enough in reverse that you are not feeling a draft.
7) How much air does the Axis 44 inch fan actually move?
Up to 4134 CFM at top speed from the 44 inch, 14 degree pitch three-blade set. It is Energy Star qualified, and the DC motor is rated to run up to 70 percent more efficiently than a conventional AC fan motor, which matters if you are specifying a fleet of units across a building.
8) If the LED burns out, do I have to replace the whole Axis fan?
No. The light is a replaceable LED module by WAC Lighting, not a sealed integrated head, so the luminaire can be swapped without pulling the fan. The module is rated at 50,000 average hours. The base is an LED module, so there is no screw-in lamp to stock.
9) What finishes does the Modern Forms Axis FH-W1803 come in, and are they the same across both sizes?
Three finishes, Bronze, Matte Black and Matte White, and all three are offered in both the 44 inch and 52 inch models and in all three color temperatures. Bronze blades are ABS. Useful if you are matching interior units to outdoor ones on the same property.
10) Can the Axis fan be controlled from a phone or integrated into a smart home system?
Yes. The free Modern Forms app gives Bluetooth control of an unlimited number of fans, plus Adaptive Learning, Away Mode, breeze mode and grouping. It integrates with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI, so it drops into an existing control package rather than needing its own.
11) Is the Modern Forms Axis fan ADA compliant?
No, the Axis FH-W1803 is not ADA compliant. If a project spec calls for ADA-compliant fixtures in a given area, this one will not satisfy that line item.
