WAC Lighting Basics and Gemini 24VDC Remote Power Supply EN-BT60

This class 2, UL & cUL listed enclosed electronic transformer is used to power Basics & Gemini Tape Light by WAC Lighting. Class 2 transformers are intrinsically safer transformers because they are compartmentalized to allow no greater than 5 amps of current to be drawn on each compartment. Enclosure cover is easy to remove. Transformer has knockouts with clips for line voltage wiring. Secondary low votlage wiring for class 2 transformers do not require conduit sheathed cable or clamp wiring techniques. This transformer has a low minimum load requirement of 1W to allow the use of LED products. May be dimmed using an electronic low voltage dimmer. Includes a 72in lead wire for Basics & Gemini, longer lead wires (T24-BS-EX2) are sold separately.
  • Fully enclosed remote power supply with knockouts and clips for line voltage wiring. Soft start, short and overload circuit protection features. For use with WAC Lighting Basics & Gemini Tape Light systems.
  • 1W Minimum load to support low load LED systems. Intrinsically safe, Class 2 transformers permit no greater than a 5 amp current to be drawn. Includes a 72in lead wire for Basics & Gemini, longer lead wires (T24-BS-EX2) are sold separately.
  • Secondary wiring for Class 2 transformers does not require conduit sheathed cable or clamp wiring techniques. Suggested low voltage wire type (Sold separately): 14 - 18 guage stranded or solid. Non-metallic sheathed cable may be used for secondary wiring in walls and ceilings.
  • Input Voltage: 120VAC, Output Voltage: 24VDC. Available in 60W and 96W options.
  • Smooth and continuous dimming with an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Dimmers should always be installed on the primary side of the transformer.
  • Standards: UL & cUL Listed for Damp Locations IP20 rated. CEC Title 24 & ADA Compliant.

WAC Lighting EN-BT60-24 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What tape light does the WAC Lighting EN-BT60 power supply work with?
The EN-BT60 is built specifically for WAC Lighting's Basics and Gemini tape light systems. It takes 120VAC in and puts out 24VDC, and it ships with a 72 inch lead wire already terminated for Basics and Gemini connections. If the run puts the driver further than that from the tape, WAC sells longer lead wires as the T24-BS-EX2, ordered separately.
2) How much tape light can a 60W 24V driver actually run?
Rated output is 60 watts at 24VDC, so total connected tape load has to stay at or under 60W. Standard practice is to leave headroom rather than load a driver to the number on the label. If your run exceeds 60W, WAC makes the same supply in a 96W version, or you can split the run across multiple drivers. On the low end it will run loads down to 1W, so a short accent run won't drop out or flicker the way it can on a transformer with a high minimum load.
3) Can I dim WAC Basics tape light with this remote power supply, and what dimmer do I use?
Yes. The EN-BT60 dims on ELV, TRIAC, or 0-10V control. The wiring detail that trips people up: the dimmer goes on the primary (120V line) side of the transformer, not between the driver and the tape. Wire it on the secondary side and you get flicker or no dimming at all.
4) Does the low voltage wiring from this transformer need to run in conduit?
No. It's a Class 2 transformer, and secondary low voltage wiring from a Class 2 source doesn't require conduit, sheathed cable, or clamp wiring techniques. WAC suggests 14 to 18 gauge stranded or solid for the secondary, sold separately. Non-metallic sheathed cable is acceptable for secondary runs inside walls and ceilings. The line voltage side is a different story: the enclosure has knockouts with clips for the 120V feed and that side gets wired conventionally.
5) Where can I mount the EN-BT60 driver, and will it fit in a cabinet or cove?
The enclosure measures 6.5 x 1.63 x 1.25 inches, which is slim enough to tuck into a cove, above a cabinet, or in an accessible ceiling cavity. It's aluminum bodied, rated for indoor damp locations, and IP20, so it can go in a kitchen or bath area but not somewhere it will be hit by water directly or installed outdoors. The cover comes off easily for wiring.
6) Is the WAC EN-BT60 power supply approved for California Title 24 and ADA jobs?
It is UL and cUL Listed, CEC listed, Energy Star, and flagged both Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant. For a spec-driven institutional or multifamily job in California, that covers the usual submittal boxes for the driver itself.
7) Should I buy the 60W or the 96W version of the WAC Basics remote power supply?
Pick by connected load. The EN-BT60 is the 60W unit; the same family is offered in 96W for longer or higher output tape runs. Both are 120VAC in, 24VDC out, so the tape and the controls don't change, only the capacity. Two 60W drivers feeding two zones also gives you separate dimming control, which one 96W driver on a single circuit won't.
8) Does the EN-BT60 come with the tape light, or do I order that separately?
Driver only. No tape light and no lamps are included, and the low voltage hookup wire beyond the 72 inch factory lead is separate as well. A complete order is the power supply, the Basics or Gemini tape, any T24-BS-EX2 extension leads you need, and an ELV or TRIAC dimmer on the line side.
9) What protection does this transformer have if a tape light run shorts out?
Soft start, short circuit, and overload protection are all built into the EN-BT60. On top of that, Class 2 construction limits each compartment to no more than 5 amps of draw, which is the reason these are used in finished residential and hospitality spaces.
10) What finish does the EN-BT60 enclosure come in?
One finish: black, ordered as EN-BT60-24. Since it's a remote driver meant to sit out of sight in a cove, cabinet, or ceiling void, there's no matching-finish decision to make against the rest of the lighting package.
