This class 2, UL & cUL listed enclosed electronic transformer is used to power Basics & Gemini Tape Light by WAC Lighting. Class 2 transformers are intrinsically safer transformers because they are compartmentalized to allow no greater than 5 amps of current to be drawn on each compartment. Enclosure cover is easy to remove. Transformer has knockouts with clips for line voltage wiring. Secondary low votlage wiring for class 2 transformers do not require conduit sheathed cable or clamp wiring techniques. This transformer has a low minimum load requirement of 1W to allow the use of LED products. May be dimmed using an electronic low voltage dimmer. Includes a 72in lead wire for Basics & Gemini, longer lead wires (T24-BS-EX2) are sold separately.

1) Will the WAC PS-24DC-U60R-BT power supply run any 24V LED tape light, or only WAC tape?
It is built for WAC Lighting's Basics and Gemini tape light systems, and it ships with a 72 inch lead wire terminated in a Basics and Gemini connector. Output is 24VDC. If you are feeding a different brand of 24V tape you would be cutting off or adapting that factory connector, which is not what the supply is configured for. For WAC Basics or Gemini runs it plugs straight in, and longer lead wires (T24-BS-EX2) are sold separately.
2) How much tape light can a 60W 24V remote power supply carry?
The PS-24DC-U60R-BT is a 60W unit, so total connected tape load has to stay at or under 60 watts at 24VDC. There is also a 1W minimum load, which is low enough that a single short LED run will still start and dim properly. If your run exceeds 60W, WAC offers the same supply in a 96W version, or you split the run across multiple supplies.
3) Can this WAC 24VDC power supply be used on a 277V commercial circuit?
Yes. Input range is 120-277VAC, so the same part works on 120V residential feeds and on 277V lighting circuits in commercial buildings. That makes it a single SKU you can standardize on across a facility rather than stocking separate low and high voltage transformers.
4) What kind of dimmer do I need for WAC Basics and Gemini tape light on this transformer?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer, wired on the primary (line voltage) side of the transformer, never on the 24V secondary. Dimming range is 100 percent down to 5 percent on both ELV and TRIAC. Putting a magnetic low voltage or standard incandescent dimmer on it, or dimming the low voltage side, will give you flicker or drop-out.
5) Does the secondary wiring from this Class 2 transformer need to be in conduit?
No. Because it is a Class 2 output, the low voltage secondary run does not require conduit, sheathed cable, or clamp wiring methods. WAC suggests 14 to 18 gauge stranded or solid low voltage wire, sold separately, and non-metallic sheathed cable is acceptable for secondary runs inside walls and ceilings. Line voltage side lands at the knockouts, which have clips for the incoming conductors. Always confirm against your local AHJ.
6) Does this WAC transformer meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a spec job?
Yes on both. The PS-24DC-U60R-BT is CEC listed, Title 24 compliant, and ADA compliant, and it carries UL and cUL listings. That combination is what most institutional and California specs call out for a remote driver feeding cove or under-cabinet tape.
