1) Will the WAC canopy plate cover a standard 4 inch junction box on a track install?
The CP canopy plate measures 4.25 by 4.25 inches with a 0.38 inch profile, so it covers a standard 4 inch square junction box and the surrounding ring with a small margin all around. It mounts over the box after the track and power feed connector are in place, hiding the opening so there is no visible gap at the ceiling.
2) Do I need a canopy plate if I already have a track power feed connector?
The power feed connector makes the electrical connection into the junction box; the canopy plate is the cosmetic cover that goes over the box around it. On a surface mounted ceiling track fed from an existing box, you want both. If the track is fed from an end where the box is concealed above a recessed condition, the plate is not required. The CP plate is a component only, not a complete system.
3) What finishes does the WAC CP canopy plate come in so I can match my existing track?
Four finishes: Black (CP-BK), White (CP-WT), Brushed Nickel (CP-BN), and Dark Bronze (CP-DB). For a fleet of rooms, order the plate in the same finish as the track run and the feed connector, since all three are visible at the ceiling.
4) Can this track canopy plate be used outdoors or in a covered exterior walkway?
No. The CP canopy plate is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations and interior use only. A covered walkway, parking structure, or any spot exposed to moisture or condensation needs a wet or damp rated system instead, not this 120V interior track component.
5) Will this canopy plate hold up on a commercial retail ceiling, or is it plastic?
Die cast aluminum, not plastic. That matters on retail and hospitality jobs where track gets re-lamped and re-aimed often and a thin cover would distort or crack around the screw points. The finish is applied over the aluminum casting.
6) Is this canopy plate rated for a two circuit 120V track run?
Yes, it works on single or two circuit 120V track. The system rating behind it is 120V, 1920W maximum per circuit at 20A max operating current. The plate itself carries no current, it is a cover, so the circuit count does not change which plate you order.
7) Can I plug this track in, or does it have to be hardwired?
Hardwired. The canopy plate exists specifically because the track is fed from a hardwired ceiling junction box, and it caps that box off. There is no cord and plug option in this component.
