1) What does the WAC L Track floating canopy connector actually do on a track run?
It is the power feed canopy for WAC's L Track system, letting you bring 120V supply into the track at a point other than the end of the run. It is a hardwired component, not a plug-in feed, so it lands on a junction box and gets wired by an electrician. It is a connector only, not a complete lighting system, so the track sections, feed and heads are ordered separately.
2) How big is the canopy, and will it cover a standard 4 inch octagon junction box?
The canopy measures 4.5 inches square with a 1.5 inch height, so it covers the opening of a standard 4 inch round or octagon box. Check your ring or mud ring projection, since the canopy only stands 1.5 inches off the surface.
3) Can I use this L Track canopy connector on a covered porch or in a parking garage?
No. It is rated for dry interior locations only, so damp or wet areas such as covered exterior ceilings, garages exposed to weather, or bathrooms over a shower are out. Keep it to conditioned interior ceilings.
4) What finishes does the L Track floating canopy come in so it matches my existing track?
Three finishes: Black (LFC-BK), Brushed Nickel (LFC-BN) and White (LFC-WT). For a clean look on a repeat install across a building, order the canopy in the same finish as the track sections and heads already in place.
5) Is the WAC L Track canopy connector metal or plastic?
The body is plastic with the finish applied over it, which is typical for a track canopy since the housing is not structural. It carries a UL and cUL safety listing for use in the US and Canada.
