1) Can the WAC Lighting Flip BL-1021L swing arm light be plugged in, or does it have to be hardwired?
Either way. The Flip BL-1021L is set up for hardwired or plug-in use, and the 8 foot cord plus two 12 inch cord covers ship with it. That makes it workable for a hotel or multi-family headboard retrofit where there is no junction box in the wall, and for new construction where you want it fed from a box behind the 4.5 inch backplate.
2) Is the BL-1021L the left or the right unit, and do I need both for a pair of beds?
BL-1021L is the left-hand unit of the Flip pair. The arm geometry is a mirrored left/right design, so if you are doing matched reading lights on both sides of a bed or a pair of guest rooms, you order the left model and its right-hand mate separately. Ordering two lefts gives you two identically handed fixtures.
3) Does the WAC Flip LED wall light need an external dimmer or a dimmer switch on the wall?
No separate dimmer is needed. The Flip has an integral driver and a memory touch dimmer on the fixture itself, so dimming is done at the fingertip control rather than at a wall device. For a property manager that means no dimmer compatibility matrix to chase and no 0-10V or ELV module to buy.
4) Can I use the WAC Flip BL-1021L in a bathroom or on a covered porch?
It is rated for damp locations and carries an IP44 rating, with ETL and cETL listings, so a covered porch or a bathroom away from direct spray is within rating. It is not a wet-location fixture, so keep it out of shower enclosures and off uncovered exterior walls.
5) Does the WAC Flip wall light meet ADA projection requirements for a corridor?
No. The Flip is not ADA compliant, and as a swing arm it projects into the space when open, so it is the wrong choice for a corridor or any required accessible route. Use it at a bed, desk, or reading chair where projection is not restricted.
