1) Will the WAC HFLX flexible connector work with my existing H track?
The HFLX is built for WAC's H Track system, so it mates with H track sections and runs at 120V like the rest of that system. It is a track component only, not a powered fixture, and it will not fit J or L track profiles.
2) What does a flexible track connector actually do on a track lighting run?
It joins two runs of H track where a rigid straight, L, T or X connector won't work, letting you turn a corner at an angle the fixed fittings don't cover or follow a jog in the ceiling. Power passes through the connector, so the second run stays live off the same 120V feed. It does not feed power on its own, so you still need a power feed or an end-feed connector somewhere on the circuit.
3) How much length does the HFLX connector add between two track sections?
Plan on 9.75 inches of overall length, with a 1.39 inch width and a 0.75 inch height. On a tight ceiling layout that 9.75 inches comes out of your usable track run, so measure the gap between sections before you cut track to length.
4) Can I use this WAC flexible connector outdoors or in a covered patio?
No. The HFLX is rated for dry interior locations only, so keep it out of exterior runs, covered porches and damp spaces like bath ceilings over a tub or shower. Indoor retail, office and residential ceilings are what it's built for.
5) Is the WAC HFLX UL listed for a commercial job?
The HFLX carries UL and cUL safety listings, which covers both US and Canadian installs, and it is CEC listed. It is not Energy Star qualified and not Title 24 compliant, and it is not ADA compliant, so if your California project is being reviewed against Title 24 the connector won't carry that credit.
6) What finishes does the WAC HFLX flexible track connector come in so it matches my track?
Four finishes: Black (HFLX-BK), Brushed Nickel (HFLX-BN), Dark Bronze (HFLX-DB) and White (HFLX-WT). Order the connector in the same finish as the track sections it joins, since the body sits exposed on the ceiling rather than hidden inside the track.
7) Does this track connector need to be hardwired by an electrician?
It's part of a hardwired 120V system, so it belongs on a permanently wired track run rather than a plug-in cord setup. For most commercial and multi-family work that means a licensed electrician terminating the feed, with the connector simply carrying the circuit across from one run to the next.
8) What is the HFLX connector body made of?
Aluminum, finished to match the track. That keeps the weight down on a ceiling-mounted joint and holds the painted or plated finish across black, brushed nickel, dark bronze and white.
9) Can I flip the HFLX connector to mount it either way on the track?
No, it isn't a reversible-mount part. Work out the orientation of your track run before you set the connector, because it installs one way around.
