WAC Lighting WAC-4021-30 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What finishes does the WAC Lighting 4021-30 step light come in?
Four finishes: black on aluminum (4021-30BK), bronze on aluminum (4021-30BZ), stainless steel (4021-30SS), and white on aluminum (4021-30WT). If you're matching a run of existing step lights along a stair or path, order by that finish suffix rather than the base 4021-30 number, since the base number alone won't pin down the finish.
2) Is the WAC 4021-30 step light a line voltage fixture or does it need a transformer?
It's a 12V fixture, so it runs off a low voltage landscape transformer rather than being wired directly to 120V. Plan the run as part of your existing 12V landscape circuit; if there's no transformer on the job, that's a separate item you'll need to size for the total load of all fixtures on the run.
3) What color temperature is the WAC 4021-30 vertical step light?
3000K across every finish, a warm white that reads consistent with most residential and hospitality exterior lighting. Because all four finish options share the same 3000K output, you can mix finishes on one property without a visible color shift between fixtures.
4) Is the WAC 4021-30 mounted vertically or horizontally in the wall?
Vertical. The 4021-30 is a vertical-format step and wall light, so the fixture body runs up and down in the wall rather than across it. That matters when you're matching an existing rough-in or a run of horizontal step lights, since the two orientations aren't interchangeable in the same cut-in.
5) Which finish of the WAC 4021-30 holds up best on a coastal or high-moisture property?
For salt air or pool decks, the stainless steel version (4021-30SS) is the one to specify. The other three, black, bronze, and white, are painted aluminum, which is fine for typical inland exteriors but is a coated surface rather than a corrosion-resistant base metal.
