1) What voltage transformer does the WAC 2071 inground indicator light need?
It runs on 12V, so it has to be fed from a low voltage landscape transformer, not line voltage. Each fixture draws 4.1W, which is what you use to size the transformer load across a run.
2) Can the WAC 2071 indicator light be installed in a walkway or driveway where it gets wet?
It is built for outdoor use with a Wet location rating, and carries UL, cUL and IP66 on the safety rating. The body is stainless steel with a clear glass lens and the LED module is factory sealed.
3) How much wire comes on the fixture, and how do I splice it in the ground?
There is a 36 inch lead on the fixture, and two Ideal direct burial wire nuts are packed with it so the splice to the landscape run can be made buried without a separate junction box. It is a hardwired fixture.
4) What comes in the box with the WAC 2071 indicator light?
Complete fixture with the factory sealed LED already in it, 36 inch wire lead, hardware pack, spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial nuts, and an interchangeable faceplate. No lamp to buy, the LED is integrated and included.
5) Which color temperature and finish should I order for a path of WAC 2071 inground lights?
Four combinations are made: 2700K or 3000K, each in plain stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. 2700K reads warmer and closer to incandescent, 3000K slightly crisper. Order codes are 2071-27SS, 2071-27BS, 2071-30SS and 2071-30BS. Pick one and stay with it across the run so the path matches.
6) Is the WAC 2071 bright enough to light a walkway on its own?
Each one puts out 200 lumens from a single LED, which is marker level output, not area lighting. These are indicator lights meant to be spaced along a path edge or stair to show the way, so lay out a series of them rather than expecting one to wash a walkway.
7) Will this WAC inground light meet ADA and California Title 24 for a commercial walkway?
It is flagged ADA Compliant and Title 24 Compliant, which matters for a flush walking-surface fixture on a commercial or multi-family site in California. It is not Energy Star rated.
8) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 2071, or is it a throwaway when it fails?
The LED module is factory sealed and integrated, so there is no lamp to change. Average rated life is 70,000 hours, which is why the sealed design is acceptable for a buried fixture. When it finally goes, the whole head gets swapped.
9) Can I flip the WAC 2071 to mount it in a wall instead of the ground?
No. Reversible mounting is not offered on this one, it is built as a top inground unit with a spring retention clip and an interchangeable faceplate. For a riser or wall marker, use a fixture designed for vertical mounting.
