1) Can the WAC 2021 inground indicator light run off my existing 12V landscape transformer?
Yes. The 2021 inground indicator is a 12V fixture drawing 4W, so it wires onto a standard low voltage landscape run. It is hardwired, not plug-in, and ships with a 36 inch lead plus two Ideal direct burial wire nuts to make the splice out in the trench.
2) Is this WAC inground light rated to sit in a walkway where water pools?
It is UL and cUL listed for wet locations and carries an IP66 rating, so direct rain and hose spray are fine. IP66 covers powerful water jets, not prolonged submersion, so keep it out of spots that hold standing water like a basin.
3) Will this be bright enough to light a path, or is it just a marker?
It is a marker. At 200 lumens from a 4W LED it indicates the edge of a step, drive or walkway rather than illuminating the surface. If you need usable light on the walking surface, spec a path light with a shade and a higher output instead and use these between them.
4) What comes in the box with the WAC 2021 indicator light?
Complete fixture with the sealed LED, a 36 inch wire lead, hardware pack, spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial wire nuts, and an interchangeable faceplate. You supply the low voltage transformer, the landscape cable run, and the sleeve or core hole.
5) What color temperatures and finishes does the WAC 2021 come in?
Four combinations: 2700K or 3000K, each in natural stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. Order numbers run 2021-27SS and 2021-27BS for the warmer 2700K, 2021-30SS and 2021-30BS for 3000K. Pick one temperature across a run so the markers match down the walk.
6) Do I ever have to change a bulb in these inground markers?
No. The LED is integrated and factory sealed, rated for 70,000 hours. There is no lamp to service, which is the point on a buried fixture. At end of life the whole unit gets replaced.
7) Will the WAC 2021 inground light corrode in a coastal or de-icing salt environment?
The body is stainless steel, with a bronze coated stainless option if you want the darker look. Stainless is the right base material for a fixture set into concrete or soil where salt and irrigation water are in contact with it year round.
8) Does this WAC marker light meet California Title 24 for an outdoor project?
Yes, the 2021 is listed as Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, which is what a spec on a commercial or multi-family exterior walkway usually calls for. It is not Energy Star rated.
9) Can I aim or reposition the WAC 2021 after it is installed?
No. It is not a reversible mounting fixture, so it goes in one orientation with the beveled top flush to the surface and stays there. Plan the sleeve locations before the concrete or pavers go down.
10) How many of these can I put on one low voltage run?
Each 2021 draws 4W at 12V, about a third of an amp, so the load per fixture is very small and a run of them adds up slowly against transformer capacity. Size the transformer and wire gauge to the total connected wattage plus your voltage drop over the cable length.
