WAC Lighting WAC-JLED1014 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the LED1014 Exterminator II track head be used outdoors or in a covered exterior soffit?
No. The Exterminator II LED1014 is rated for dry locations and interior use only. Keep it to indoor retail, gallery, office, and residential ceilings. A covered porch or soffit that can see blown rain or condensation needs a damp or wet location rated fixture instead.
2) What beam spread should I order for the Exterminator II track head, 25 or 55 degrees?
Two beam options are offered: a 25 degree narrow spot and a 55 degree flood. Use the 25 degree for accenting artwork, merchandise on a single shelf, or throwing light from a high ceiling to a defined target. The 55 degree covers a wider wash, wall grazing, or general display lighting where you do not want hard edges between heads. Beam spread is fixed per fixture, so pick it at order time.
3) Does the WAC LED1014 track head take a replacement bulb, or is the LED fixed?
The LED is integrated. The Exterminator II LED1014 ships with a one-piece LED module already installed, one light source per head, with no screw or pin base to relamp. Rated life is 100,000 hours, so for a property manager the maintenance plan is fixture replacement at end of life rather than lamp stocking.
4) What color temperatures and CRI options does the Exterminator II LED1014 come in?
Four color temperatures are offered, 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, in either 85 or 90 CRI. For hospitality and residential work, 2700K or 3000K at 90 CRI holds skin tones and wood finishes. For merchandise, art, and anywhere color accuracy is being judged, specify the 90 CRI. Office and institutional spaces typically land on 3500K or 4000K. Keep the temperature consistent across every head on a run or the mismatch will show on the wall.
5) Does ordering the LED1014 track head get me everything I need, or do I have to buy track separately?
The head alone is not a complete system. You are buying the fixture only, so the J track sections, connectors, feed, and end caps have to be ordered separately to finish the run. On a retrofit into existing J track, the head is all you need.
6) Is the WAC Exterminator II LED1014 Energy Star certified, and does it meet California Title 24?
Energy Star certified, yes, which matters for utility rebate programs and for institutional and multi-family energy specs. Title 24 compliance is a different matter: this head is not Title 24 compliant, so for California residential work under that code you will need a JA8 listed alternative.
7) Will the Exterminator II LED1014 dim on my existing track dimmer?
It is a dimmable 120 volt, 14 watt head. Because the load per head is small, watch the minimum load on the dimmer you already have on the circuit: a run of a few of these can fall below what an older incandescent-rated dimmer needs to run smoothly. An LED-rated dimmer matched to the total connected wattage is the safe specification.
8) How much light does the WAC LED1014 track head actually put out, and is it enough for retail display?
852 lumens from 14 watts, with a 2700K warm white source on the base configuration. That output level suits accent and display work, artwork, and merchandise highlighting rather than serving as the sole general illumination for a space. For a full sales floor, plan head spacing and quantity around the accent layer, not on a one-for-one swap with ambient fixtures.
9) What finishes does the Exterminator II track head come in, and can I match it to my existing track?
Black, brushed nickel, and white. Black and white are the usual picks for blending the head into a dark or painted ceiling; brushed nickel reads as a visible metal accent. Match the head finish to the track itself, since the track is what runs continuously across the ceiling and any mismatch is obvious from the floor.
10) What are the dimensions of the WAC LED1014 track head, and how far does it hang below the track?
The head measures 4.5 inches high, 3.75 inches long and 3.75 inches wide, with a 2 inch diameter body. Maximum height is 4.5 inches, which is what to allow below the track face when you are checking clearance against a low ceiling, a shelving top, or a sprinkler head.
11) What is the Exterminator II track head made of, and how is the lens finished?
Aluminum body with a clear glass lens. Aluminum handles the heat sinking an integrated LED needs, and the clear lens leaves the beam unmodified, so the 25 or 55 degree optic is what you get on the surface with no additional diffusion softening the edge.
12) Can the LED1014 head be aimed after it is installed on the track?
Yes, it is a reversible mounting head, so it can be repositioned on the track and reoriented after install. That is what makes it workable for galleries and retail where displays move and the aiming has to follow.
