WAC Lighting WAC-HLED3020 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use the WAC LED3020 track head outdoors or in a covered damp area?
No. The LED3020 is rated for dry locations and interior use only. Keep it out of covered exterior soffits, bathrooms with direct shower exposure, and anywhere subject to condensation; that application needs a damp-rated head.
2) Does the WAC LED3020 track head meet California Title 24 and Energy Star for a commercial job?
Yes on both. It is Title 24 compliant and Energy Star qualified, and it carries ETL and cETL safety listings for US and Canadian work. That combination is what most utility rebate and energy code submittals ask for on a lighting package.
3) Does buying the WAC LED3020 head get me a working track run?
No. The head alone is not a complete system, so you still need the H track sections, an end feed or power connector, couplers for longer runs, and end caps. Order the track components to match the H system and the 120V feed.
4) Is the WAC LED3020 track head a wall wash or a spot?
Wall wash. The beam spread is flood, and the head carries a glass diffuser rather than a tight lens, which spreads 1232 lumens evenly across a vertical surface. For accenting a single piece of art or merchandise you want a narrow or spot optic instead, not this head.
5) What color temperature and CRI does the WAC LED3020 wall wash head put out, and will it match other heads on my track?
3000K at 90 CRI, 20 watts, 1232 lumens delivered. If the rest of the heads on the run are also 3000K/90 CRI the color will blend; mixing in 2700K or 4000K heads on the same track will read as an obvious shift on a washed wall.
6) Do I need to order a lamp separately for the WAC LED3020 head?
No lamp to buy. It is an integrated LED module, one light source, included with the head, rated 60,000 average hours. There is no socket, so when the module reaches end of life the head is replaced rather than relamped.
7) How much clearance below the ceiling does the WAC LED3020 track head need?
The head measures 7 inches in height with a 3.4 inch length and 3.63 inch width, so allow roughly 7 inches of drop below the track plus room to aim it. In low-ceiling corridors or over a display case, check that projection against head clearance before committing to the run.
8) How durable is the WAC LED3020 head for a high-traffic retail or hospitality space?
The housing is die cast aluminum, which is what you want for heat dissipation on a 20 watt integrated LED and for heads that get re-aimed regularly. The diffuser is glass. Mounting is reversible, so the head can be oriented either way on the track to suit the wash direction.
9) How many WAC LED3020 wall wash heads do I need to light a wall evenly?
Each head delivers 1232 lumens at 20 watts in a flood distribution. For an even wash, space heads at roughly equal intervals along the track and set them off the wall rather than tight to it; a single flood head covers a section of wall, not a whole elevation. Total the 20 watts per head against the circuit and dimmer capacity for the run.
