WAC Lighting R6DRAK-A9CS-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Lotos 6 inch LED retrofit kit drop into my existing 6-inch recessed cans?
Yes. The Lotos retrofit is built for existing 6-inch recessed housings, so there's no cutting or demo. Retention clips grip the inside of the can, and power comes either from the E26 medium base socket (screws straight into the existing lamp holder) or by splicing to the leads. It's 120V only.
2) Can this recessed retrofit go in a shower or an exterior soffit?
Yes. The Lotos 6in retrofit kit is ETL and cETL listed to UL 1598 for dry, damp, and wet locations, so covered exterior soffits, porches, and shower locations are all within its rating. It's also airtight and IC-rated, so direct contact with ceiling insulation is fine.
3) I need one fixture I can set to match different buildings. How does the 5-CCT selectable work?
A switch on the fixture sets color temperature to 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K, so one stocked part number covers warm residential units and cooler corridors or back-of-house. For property managers standardizing across a portfolio, that means a single SKU on the shelf instead of five, and you can match the existing cans in a space at install time rather than guessing on the order.
4) What dimmers work with the WAC Lotos 6in retrofit, and how low does it go?
It runs on ELV or TRIAC dimmers. On an ELV dimmer it takes the light down to 10 percent; on a TRIAC (forward phase) dimmer it goes to 5 percent. It is a 120V hardwired fixture, so pair it with a line-voltage dimmer of one of those two types. Dimming is smooth and continuous rather than stepped.
5) Does this WAC retrofit meet California Title 24 for a multifamily remodel?
Yes. The Lotos 6in retrofit is CEC Title 24 compliant and certified to Title 24 JA8-2016, and it also carries Title 20 and ADA on its safety rating list, along with ETL, cETL, and CSA CAN. The JA8-2016 listing is the one inspectors look for on high-efficacy residential lighting in California.
6) Can I aim this retrofit for accent light or use it in a sloped ceiling?
The light engine is field-adjustable up to 50 degrees, so the same kit works as a straight downlight, as an aimed accent on a wall or artwork, or squared up in a sloped ceiling. The lens sits regressed in the trim, which is what keeps the aimed position from throwing glare into sightlines.
7) Does the Lotos 6 inch retrofit kit include the LED and driver, or do I order those separately?
Everything is in the kit. The LED module and the driver ship with it, so there's no lamp or remote driver to buy. The module is 13W, 1,270 delivered lumens, 90 CRI, flood distribution, rated 50,000 hours. The only thing the kit doesn't come with is the existing 6-inch housing it mounts into.
8) What trim finishes does the Lotos 6in retrofit come in?
Two: black and white. Both are the same 13W 5-CCT wet-rated kit with a white frosted TIR lens, so the finish choice is only the visible trim. White blends with most painted ceilings; black reduces the visual aperture in dark ceilings and theater or hospitality spaces.
9) Is the Lotos 6in retrofit metal or plastic, and will it hold up in high-traffic housing?
Steel housing, with a white frosted TIR lens and a 50,000 hour rated LED module. For multifamily, hotel, and senior living turns the practical benefit is that it is a sealed airtight, IC-rated assembly with no lamp for a tenant to change or break.
