1) Can I install the WAC Lotos R6ERDR fire rated downlight in a 1-hour or 2-hour rated ceiling without adding a fire box?
The Lotos R6ERDR fire rated downlight is tested and certified to ASTM E119 and UL 263 for 2 hours, so it protects the rated ceiling assembly on its own without a separate fire-rated enclosure over the housing. It is also IC rated and airtight, so it can sit in direct contact with insulation and will not need a standoff. That combination is what inspectors look for on multi-family corridors, hotel ceilings, and rated garage lids.
2) How much space do I need above the ceiling for the WAC Lotos R6ERDR downlight?
Minimum plenum space required is 4-1/2 inches. Measure from the back of the drywall to whatever is above, joist, duct, or slab. If you have a tight retrofit ceiling with less than that clear, this one will not seat.
3) Do I need a separate driver or junction box with the R6ERDR-W9CS-FWT?
The driver is included with the Lotos fire rated downlight, so there is no remote driver to mount or order. It runs on 120-277 VAC, 50/60Hz, which means the same part works on a 120V residential branch circuit and a 277V commercial lighting circuit without changing SKUs.
