Lotos Adj – Fire Rated Adjustable Downlight 5CCT

The wafer-thin Lotos LED Recessed Kit with remote driver combines high quality light output and efficiency while eliminating the need for a large housing. This innovative design can be installed easily as a remodel or new construction with an optional frame-in kit sold separately for pre-wiring. Lotos is available in a downlight version for general ambient lighting and an adjustable version with a gimbal that pivots 360 degrees on a hinge, perfect for slope ceilings, general lighting, accenting lighting, and wall washing. The integrated high output and energy efficient Lotos LED module maintains at least 70% light output for 50,000 hours. The Lotos is ideal for shallow ceiling applications with as little as 3-inch plenum clearance. Lotos LED is offered in round and square with 2 inch, 4 inch, and 6 inch aperture options. 1) Is the WAC Lotos R4ERAR-W9CS-FWT fire rated, and to what standard?
Yes. The Lotos Adj fire rated 4 inch downlight is tested and certified to ASTM E119 and UL 263 for 2 hours, which is what the -FWT suffix on the part number signifies. If your drawings call for a 2-hour rated ceiling assembly, this is the version to order rather than a standard Lotos.
2) How much ceiling cavity depth does the Lotos adjustable downlight need?
Minimum plenum space required is 4-1/2 inches for this adjustable fire rated version. The gimbal and its travel are what drive that number, so don't plan it off the 3 inch clearance quoted for the flat downlight family. Measure your actual cavity between joists before committing.
3) Can I aim this light on a sloped ceiling or use it to wall wash?
That is what the adjustable version is for. The gimbal pivots 360 degrees on a hinge and the ring is a rotatable multi-axis design, so it works on slope ceilings, for accent lighting, and for wall washing. If you only need flat general ambient light, the non-adjustable Lotos downlight version is the simpler pick.
4) What color temperature do I get, and do I have to pick one when ordering?
No color temperature decision at order time. This is a 5-CCT switchable fixture, selectable on the unit between 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K. CRI is 90. For property managers standardizing across a building, one part number covers every space type, warm lobbies through 5000K back-of-house.
5) Does the WAC Lotos R4ERAR-W9CS-FWT come with a driver, or do I order one separately?
The driver is included. It's a remote driver design, which is how the fixture stays wafer thin and avoids a full housing. Input is 120-277 VAC, 50/60Hz, so it drops onto either a 120V residential circuit or 277V commercial lighting branch without a different part number.
6) Will this dim on the controls I already have installed?
Dimming is 100 to 5 percent on both ELV and TRIAC. So an existing forward-phase TRIAC wall dimmer will work, as will an ELV dimmer. It is not a 0-10V fixture, so if your spec calls for 0-10V or DALI control this is the wrong part.
7) Can I install the Lotos in an insulated ceiling or an existing finished ceiling?
Yes on both counts. The fixture is IC rated and airtight, so insulation can contact it, and it installs as a remodel retrofit or in new construction. For new work where you want to pre-wire before drywall, WAC offers an optional frame-in kit, sold separately.
8) I need two or three lights on one opening. Is there a multi-light Lotos?
Yes. WAC lists part numbers R2ESAR-2 and R2ESAR-3 for two-light and three-light configurations. Note those are the 2 inch aperture multi-light assemblies, not the fire rated 4 inch adjustable unit.
9) What aperture sizes and shapes does the Lotos LED family offer besides this one?
