1) Will the WAC JHT-809L track head fit my existing track, or do I need a specific system?
The JHT-809L is a J-track fixture, so it mounts to J-series track only. It will not seat in an H or L track channel. If your runs are J track, the head drops straight in; if they are anything else, you need a head built for that channel.
2) Does the WAC JHT-809L low voltage track head come with a bulb?
No lamp is included. The head takes an MR16 lamp with a GY5.3 bi-pin base, rated up to 50W, so order lamps separately with the heads.
3) It's a low voltage head, so do I need a separate transformer on the track?
No external transformer is needed. The JHT-809L runs off a 120V J track circuit and steps the power down at the head for the MR16 lamp, so it works on standard line voltage track without adding a remote magnetic or electronic transformer.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC JHT-809L track head?
Use an ELV (electronic low voltage) dimmer. The head's onboard electronic transformer is an ELV load, so a standard incandescent or MLV dimmer can buzz or dim poorly. Match the dimmer to the total connected wattage of all heads on the circuit, at up to 50W each.
5) Can I use the WAC JHT-809L track head in a covered exterior soffit or a bathroom?
No. It is rated for indoor dry locations only, so keep it out of exterior soffits, covered patios, and shower or tub zones. A damp or wet location listed head is required for those spots.
6) Does the WAC JHT-809L meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a commercial job?
Yes on both. The head is listed as Title 24 compliant and CEC listed for California work, and it is ADA compliant. It is UL and cUL certified for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star rated.
7) How much clearance do I need below the track for the JHT-809L head?
Allow about 6 inches of drop. The head measures 6 inches in height, 4.5 inches wide, 3 inches long, with a 2.39 inch diameter body. That matters in retail cases, low soffits, or anywhere the head could be in the path of a door or display.
