1) Will the WAC Lighting LTK-178 track head fit my existing track, or do I need WAC L-track?
The LTK-178 is an L Track fixture, so it only mounts to L-series track. It will not seat in a J-track or H-track (Halo/Juno style) rail. The head itself is not a complete system, so the track section, feed connector, and end cap are separate purchases.
2) What bulb does the LTK-178 track head take, and is one included?
It takes a single PAR20 lamp, either incandescent or LED, up to 75 watts at 120 volts. No lamp ships with the head, so add the PAR20 separately and pick the beam spread you want, since the fixture itself does not set it.
3) Is this WAC track head okay for a covered patio or a bathroom?
No. The LTK-178 is rated for dry locations and interior use only, so keep it out of covered patios, breezeways, and shower or tub zones. For those spots you need a damp-location rated head.
4) How much clearance does the LTK-178 need below the track?
The head measures 2 inches in diameter and 4 inches tall, with 4 inches being the maximum height. Below a surface-mounted L-track that puts the fixture roughly 4 inches off the ceiling plane, which matters in low-ceiling retail bays or under soffits where a longer cylinder would be in the way.
5) What finishes does the LTK-178 come in for matching other heads on the same run?
Three finishes: black (LTK-178-BK), brushed nickel (LTK-178-BN), and white (LTK-178-WT). Order the track and connectors in the same finish, since the rail is what the eye follows in a long run.
6) Does the LTK-178 track head qualify for California Title 24 or Energy Star projects?
It is CEC listed, but it is not Title 24 compliant and not Energy Star qualified. On a Title 24 lighting submittal you will need a different, compliant luminaire. Safety listings are UL and cUL.
7) Is the LTK-178 line voltage or low voltage, and do I need a transformer?
Line voltage. It wires straight to 120V through the L-track, no transformer or magnetic driver needed, unlike the 12V heads in the same family. That also means the 75W figure is drawn directly from the branch circuit when you total up a run.
8) Can the LTK-178 head be mounted to aim up as well as down?
Yes, it has reversible mounting, so the head can be oriented for uplight off a ceiling or soffit as well as standard downlight aiming. The body is aluminum, which keeps the weight down on longer track runs with several heads.
