1) Do I need a transformer or driver to run the WAC Mini Puck LED puck light?
Yes. The Mini Puck runs on 24V, so it has to be fed from a 24V AC or DC low voltage supply, not wired straight to a 120V branch circuit. Each puck draws 2W, so a 60W 24V supply carries up to 30 of them at nominal load before you allow any headroom. Plan the supply location during rough-in, since the puck itself terminates in a 72 inch lead.
2) Will WAC Mini Puck lights dim on my existing wall dimmer?
The Mini Puck dims on ELV and TRIAC controls, but the dimmer works on the line side of the 24V supply, not on the puck. That means the supply itself has to be a dimmable 24V unit rated for the dimmer type you install. Pairing a TRIAC wall dimmer with a non-dimming supply is the usual cause of flicker or a hard cut to off partway down the slider.
3) Can a WAC Mini Puck go in a bathroom or a covered exterior soffit?
Damp location rated and IP20, so the Mini Puck is fine over a vanity, in a closet, or inside a covered indoor space where humidity gets high. It is an indoor product and IP20 offers no protection against water jets or direct rain, so it does not belong under an open eave, in a shower enclosure, or anywhere it can be sprayed down.
4) Does the WAC Mini Puck meet California Title 24 for residential lighting?
Yes. The Mini Puck is Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, which is what an inspector looks for on California jobs where the fixture counts toward the high efficacy requirement. It is ETL and cETL listed for both US and Canadian work, and it is ADA compliant. It does not carry Energy Star, so if a rebate program you are filing under requires that specifically, this is not the part for it.
5) Can the bulb in a WAC Mini Puck be replaced when it burns out?
No. The Mini Puck is an integrated LED module with no socket and no lamp to change, rated at 50,000 hours. When it reaches end of life the whole puck comes out. For a property manager standardizing across units, that means stocking spare pucks rather than spare lamps, and it also means no relamping labor for the life of the fixture.
6) What finishes does the WAC Mini Puck come in, and will the light color match my other fixtures?
Two finishes, black (HR-LED10-30-BK) and white (HR-LED10-30-WT), both on an aluminum body with a translucent acrylic diffuser. Every one of them is 3000K at 90 CRI, so pucks ordered at different times for different units render color the same way and will not read warmer or cooler against each other on a shared backsplash.
7) Can I run WAC Mini Puck lights on the same 24V supply as my LED tape?
Yes, as long as the tape is also 24V and the supply has capacity for both loads. The Mini Puck is 24V at 2W each, so a run of six pucks adds 12W to whatever the tape draws. Match the supply type to the dimming as well: the puck dims on ELV and TRIAC, and mixing it on a circuit with tape that expects a different control scheme is where two loads on one dimmer stop tracking together.
8) Is 90 CRI worth it for under-cabinet puck lighting?
For anywhere someone judges color, yes. The Mini Puck renders at 90 CRI, which is the threshold spec writers use for retail display cases, millwork showrooms, and kitchens where food and finishes have to look right. Paired with 3000K it reads warm white without pushing wood tones orange the way lower CRI diodes do.
