Yes. The Pop-In 4 inch round downlight is IC Rated and airtight, so it can sit in direct contact with insulation and doesn't need a standoff box or a clearance cage. That combination is what most energy codes ask for on a ceiling below an insulated attic. Housing is die-cast aluminum with a 20-gauge cold rolled steel junction box.
2) Is the WAC Pop-In 4 inch new construction downlight only usable before drywall goes up?
No. It ships as new construction but may be configured in the field for remodel, so one part number covers both the rough-in run and the retrofit cans on the same job. The junction box sits on the back of the fixture and the driver is concealed inside the housing, so there is no separate remote driver to find room for above the ceiling.
3) Can I match the color temperature of the existing recessed lights in the rest of the building?
Most likely, yes. The Pop-In 4 inch downlight is 5-CCT switchable on the fixture between 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K, so you set it to whatever the adjacent openings are running instead of stocking five SKUs. 4) Will the WAC Pop-In 4 inch downlight run on 277 volt commercial power?

5) What dimmer works with the WAC Pop-In 4 inch downlight, and how low does it go?
It dims on either ELV or TRIAC controls, 100 percent down to 5 percent on both. TRIAC means a standard forward-phase wall dimmer of the kind already in most existing rooms, so a remodel usually keeps the switch that is there. ELV is reverse-phase and is the smoother of the two at the bottom of the range. On 277V circuits you need a dimmer rated for that voltage.
6) What finishes does the WAC Pop-In 4 inch 5CCT downlight come in, and can I buy it in bulk?
Two trim finishes: black (R4DRDN-F9CS-BK) and white (R4DRDN-F9CS-WT). White is also packed in twos (R4DRDN-F9CS-WT-2) and sixes (R4DRDN-F9CS-WT-6) for larger runs. Black is single-unit only, so a job calling for a dozen black trims is twelve individual orders.
7) How long before the Pop-In downlights need relamping in a rental or hotel corridor?
There is no relamping. The LED and driver are integral, with a rated life of 50,000 hours. Run 12 hours a day and that is over eleven years before the fixture reaches its rated point.
