Modern Forms FR-W2101-72L-BZ – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Wynd XL 72 inch fan be installed on a covered patio or other outdoor space?
Yes. The Wynd XL carries a Wet Location rating, listed by UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL, so it can go indoors or outdoors, including covered patios and other wet-location spaces. Blades are ABS, which holds up to weather better than wood.
2) Will the Wynd XL mount on a sloped ceiling?
Slopes up to 30 degrees are handled by the standard mount. Between 32 and 45 degrees you need the optional XF-SCK slope ceiling kit, ordered separately. The fan ships with a 4.5 inch downrod, so on a high or steeply pitched ceiling plan for a longer rod to get the blades into the airflow zone.
3) Does the Wynd XL need a special wall control, or is a remote included?
A battery-operated Bluetooth remote with wall cradle is in the box (Part No. F-RCBT-WT). No hardwired wall control is included. The fan also runs from the Modern Forms app and works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI, so a smart-home install does not require extra low-voltage wiring.
4) What finishes and light color temperatures does the Wynd XL come in?
Four finishes: Bronze, Matte Black, Matte White and Stainless Steel. Each is offered in three LED color temperatures, 2700K, 3000K and 3500K. Note the blade finish is specified as Bronze. For a warm residential look most buyers take 2700K; 3000K and 3500K read progressively cooler and suit commercial or outdoor settings.
5) Can the light on the Wynd XL be dimmed, and can it be removed if I only want the fan?
The integrated LED luminaire is dimmable through the remote or the app. It is an LED module, not a socketed bulb, and it is replaceable rather than throwaway. If you want a clean, light-free look, an optional cover conceals the luminaire.
6) How much light does the Wynd XL put out, and is it good enough as the main light in a room?
1600 lumens at 90 CRI with a flood beam spread, rated 50,000 hours. That is roughly a 100W incandescent equivalent, enough for ambient light over a seating area but not enough to be the only source in a large great room. Plan on recessed or perimeter lighting alongside it. The 90 CRI means colors render accurately, which matters in living and hospitality spaces.
7) Is the Modern Forms Wynd XL ADA compliant for a commercial or healthcare project?
No. The Wynd XL is not ADA compliant, so if your spec calls for ADA-compliant fixtures in a given space, this one will not satisfy it. It does carry Energy Star certification and UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL Wet Location listings, which covers most code and utility-rebate requirements on the electrical side.
8) Does the Wynd XL reverse for winter, and how many speeds does it have?
The DC motor is reversible, so you can run it in reverse through the cooler months to push warm air down off the ceiling. Six speeds, plus breeze mode and adaptive learning via the app. The motor is factory balanced and sound tested to avoid wobble and rattle, which matters on a 72 inch span where any imbalance is amplified.
