Modern Forms FR-W2503-54L-MB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Pisces 54-inch fan be installed on a covered patio or an open porch?
Pisces carries a Wet location rating, so it can go on covered patios, porches, or any exposed outdoor spot as well as indoors. That is the highest of the three location ratings, above damp and dry, so direct rain exposure is not a problem. It is UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listed.
2) Do I need a separate wall control for the Modern Forms Pisces, or is one included?
No wall control ships with it. Control is by the included battery-operated Bluetooth remote with a wall cradle, plus the Modern Forms app for breeze mode, adaptive learning, and grouping. If your spec calls for a hardwired wall station, that is a separate line item.
3) What size room does a 54-inch 3-blade ceiling fan like the Pisces cover?
The 54 inch sweep with 24.2 inch blades at a 16 degree pitch moves up to 5700 CFM, which suits great rooms, primary bedrooms, and larger covered patios. In a small bedroom or a bathroom that sweep is more fan than the space needs and the blade tips get close to walls.
4) What color temperature does the Pisces fan light put out, and can I dim it?
The integrated LED module is selectable across 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 5000K, so one fan covers warm residential through cooler task lighting. It dims smoothly, puts out 1497 to 1606 lumens at 90 CRI with a flood distribution, and is rated 50,000 hours. The module is replaceable rather than a screw-in lamp.
5) What are the electrical requirements for the Pisces smart fan?
Standard 120V, 41W total draw for the motor and LED combined. That runs off an ordinary fan-rated ceiling box circuit with no transformer or dedicated feed. Confirm the box is listed for fan support, since this is a downrod-mounted fan and not a light-only fixture.
6) Does the Pisces fan run in reverse for winter, and how many speeds does it have?
The DC motor is reversible and offers 6 speeds, so you can run it in reverse at low speed to push warm air back down in heating season. DC motors also draw less and run quieter than AC fan motors, and this one is factory balanced and sound tested.
7) Is the Modern Forms Pisces fan Energy Star or ADA compliant?
Neither. Pisces is not Energy Star qualified and is not ADA compliant, which matters if you are specifying to a rebate program or a project with ADA-driven fixture requirements. It does carry ETL, cETL, UL, cUL and CSA safety listings and a Wet location rating.
8) What finishes does the Modern Forms Pisces come in, and what are the blades made of?
Four finishes: Matte Black, Matte White, Soft Brass with Matte Black, and Soft Brass with Matte White. Blades are ABS, which holds up in outdoor and humid locations better than wood or MDF would. The light diffuser is natural Spanish Alabaster, so the glow pattern varies with the stone.
9) Can I standardize several units of the Pisces fan across a building and control them together?
Yes. Each fan syncs to the free Modern Forms app, which supports grouping, breeze mode, and adaptive learning, so multiple units in a clubhouse, lobby, or amenity deck can be managed from one place. Each fan also ships with its own Bluetooth remote and cradle.
