1) What is the WAC Smart Fans DR48 downrod for?
The DR48 is a 48 inch extension downrod for WAC and Modern Forms smart ceiling fans. It drops the fan lower from the ceiling, which is what you need on a high or vaulted ceiling to get the blades down into the airflow zone people actually occupy. 2) Will a 48 inch downrod work on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?

Seven finishes: Brushed Aluminum (DR48-BA), Brushed Nickel (DR48-BN), Distressed Koa (DR48-DK), Matte Black (DR48-MB), Matte White (DR48-MW), Oil Rubbed Bronze (DR48-OB), and Satin Brass (DR48-SB). Order the rod in the same finish as the fan housing. The rod hangs in plain sight below the canopy, so a mismatch reads immediately, and on a multi-unit or hospitality install where fans are standardized it is the one detail that gets noticed on walkthrough.
4) Can I use the DR48 downrod on a covered patio or other outdoor location?
The fans this rod extends are ETL, cETL, UL, cUL and CSA CAN Wet Location Listed for indoor or outdoor use, so a covered porch, patio or breezeway is within scope for the assembly. Match the rod finish to the fan and keep to the same finish family the fan was specified in.
5) Does adding a longer downrod affect the smart controls or the remote?
No. The DR48 is a mechanical extension, not a control component. Fan speed, breeze mode, grouping and schedules still run off the included Bluetooth remote (F-RCBT-WT) or the Modern Forms app, and the optional hardwired Bluetooth wall control (F-WCBT-WT) works the same. Dropping the fan lower on a long rod can actually help remote range in a tall room, since the receiver sits closer to where you stand.
