WAC Lighting DR60-MB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How long is the WAC Smart Fans DR60 downrod, and what is it used for?
The DR60 is a 60 inch extension downrod for WAC Smart Fans ceiling fans. You use it to drop the fan away from the ceiling on high or vaulted ceilings so the blades sit at a usable height instead of hugging the deck. It replaces the shorter rod that ships with the fan rather than stacking onto it.
2) Will a WAC DR60 downrod fit a ceiling fan from another brand?
Treat it as a WAC-only part. The DR60 is sold as a WAC Fan Accessories item for WAC Smart Fans, and downrod diameter, pin holes and wire length vary by manufacturer. If the fan on the job is not a WAC Smart Fan, source the rod from that fan's own accessory line.
3) What finishes does the WAC DR60 ceiling fan downrod come in?
Seven finishes: Brushed Aluminum (DR60-BA), Brushed Nickel (DR60-BN), Distressed Koa (DR60-DK), Matte Black (DR60-MB), Matte White (DR60-MW), Oil Rubbed Bronze (DR60-OB) and Satin Brass (DR60-SB). Order the rod in the same finish code as the fan body, since the rod hangs in plain sight below the canopy and a mismatch reads immediately.
4) I am standardizing fans across a multi-family building with different ceiling heights. Can I spec one fan and just change the downrod?
Yes, that is the normal approach with WAC Smart Fans. The fan model stays the same across units and you order the extension downrod length that suits each ceiling, with the DR60 covering the tallest openings at 60 inches. Keep the finish code consistent with the fan so every unit looks identical from the floor.
5) Is the DR60 rated for outdoor or covered patio use?
The DR60 is catalogued for indoor ceiling fan applications. For a covered porch, breezeway or other damp location, specify the fan and rod combination the manufacturer lists for that environment instead.
