Metallics QB21 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hole does the Metallics QB21 Quik-Bit wood bit drill, and how deep can it reach?
The QB21 is a 5/16 inch flat (spade) wood bit with a 16 inch overall length, so it bores a 5/16 inch hole and gives you reach through stacked plates, studs, and joist bays without a separate extension.
2) Is a 5/16 inch bit the right size for pulling NM cable through wood studs?
At 5/16 inch, the QB21 is sized for small pilot and pull holes rather than full cable runs. Electricians typically step up to a 3/4 or 7/8 inch bit to pass 12/2 or 14/2 NM cable through studs. Use the 5/16 for lag and screw pilot holes, anchor pre-drills, and single small conductors or low voltage pulls.
3) How many bits come in a pack of the Metallics QB21?
One bit per pack, supplied in a pouch. If you are standardizing a crew or a truck stock, order a count per installer rather than assuming a multi-pack.
