Metallics QB30 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size hole does the Metallics QB30 Quik-Bit drill, and how deep can it reach?
The QB30 is a 15/16 inch flat wood bit with a 16 inch overall length, so it bores a 15/16 inch hole and the extra shank length lets you reach through studs, joists or plates from an awkward angle without an extension. That 15/16 inch diameter is the common size electricians use for running cable and conduit through framing.
2) Is the Metallics QB30 a wood bit or will it cut metal studs?
It's a flat (spade-style) wood boring bit. Use it in wood framing, blocking and plates. For steel studs or metal plates you want a step bit or hole saw rated for metal, not this one.
3) How many bits come in a Metallics QB30 order?
One bit per order, supplied in a pouch. If you're kitting out a crew or stocking a van, order the quantity you need up front rather than expecting a multi-pack.
