1) Can I use the Accentra 2100 Series 42-inch rim exit device on a fire rated door?
No. The 2100 Series 42-inch rim device is not fire rated, so it cannot go on a labeled fire door assembly. It is UL and ULC Listed for panic (exit) use only. For a fire rated rim device, the Delaney F9000 Series heavy duty rim device is a Grade 1 fire rated option, listed for a 48 inch door.
2) Will this 2100 rim device fit a wood door?
No. The 2100 Series 42-inch rim exit device is not wood door compatible, so plan on a metal or aluminum door. It also requires a minimum door thickness of 1-3/4 inches, which is the standard commercial door thickness.
3) Do I need to order a left hand or right hand version of the Accentra 2100 exit device?
Neither. The 2100 Series rim device is non-handed, so one device covers both left and right hand openings. That makes it simple to stock a single 42 inch device across a building and set handing at install.
4) Does the 2100 exit device come with outside trim or a lever?
No trim is included. This is an exit only device, meaning there is no outside operating trim and no key retraction of the latch from the pull side. Accentra/Yale exit device trim is ordered separately if you need outside entry. If you want an outside lever function built in, look at a device offered in an office or classroom function such as the Stanley Security QED Series rim device, which is listed in an office/privacy/apartment function.
5) Can this rim device secure a pair of doors without a mullion?
No. A rim device latches into a strike at the frame or into a mullion, so on a pair of doors you need a removable mullion for the active leaf, or switch to a vertical rod device that latches at the head and threshold. The 2100 is a rim type device.
6) Can I use the Accentra 2100 Series rim device where the spec calls for an office or apartment function exit device?
No. The Accentra 2100 Series 42 inch rim device is exit only, so outside trim is ordered separately and the device itself provides egress only. Where the spec calls for office, privacy or apartment function, the Stanley Security QED Series Grade 1 heavy duty rim device carries that function and includes electrified dogging with hex dogging.
7) Is the 42-inch size the device length or the door width it covers?
The 42 inch figure is the device size for the opening, and this is the wide stile version of the 2100 Series. Wide stile means the pushpad rail assembly is built for a door with a wide vertical stile, not a narrow aluminum storefront stile. On a narrow stile aluminum door you need a narrow stile device instead.
8) What finishes does the Accentra 2100 Series 42-inch rim device come in?
Eight finishes: 613E dark oxidized satin bronze equivalent, 630 satin stainless steel, 689 aluminum painted, 691 light bronze painted, 693 black painted, 695 dark bronze painted, BSP black suede powder coat, and WSP white suede powder coat. 689 and 695 are the usual matches for clear and dark bronze anodized storefront, and BSP/WSP cover painted door frames.
9) Can the 2100 exit device be held open for deliveries or busy hours?
Yes, the 42 inch 2100 device is furnished with hex key dogging, so the pushpad can be depressed and locked down with a hex key to leave the door push/pull during business hours. Dogging is only permitted on non fire rated openings, which this device is.
10) What cylinder does the Accentra 2100 rim device accept?
It accepts either large format or small format interchangeable core cylinders, so it can be keyed into an existing LFIC or SFIC master key system. The cylinder itself is a separate order item, as is any outside trim.
11) Is the Delaney 8000 Series a direct substitute for the Accentra 2100 Series 42 inch rim device?
Not directly. Both are Grade 1 non fire rated rim type devices for non-wood doors, but the Delaney 8000 Series is sized for a 36 inch door while the Accentra 2100 Series here is a 42 inch device for wide stile doors. Match the device length to the door width before substituting.

The 2100 Series is an economy device that still tests to ANSI/BHMA Grade 1, the highest commercial performance level, using the Yale SquareBolt rim latch with a Pullman type latchbolt. It is used on office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouse, multi-tenant residential and municipal openings.
