That's the application it's built for. The 571AA is typically used on out-swinging exterior doors, where the lipped profile throws rain water out and away from the door bottom instead of letting it run back under the door. On an in-swinging door the lip faces the wrong way and does nothing for you.

Aluminum-retainer sweeps like the 571AA are ordered in a stock length and cut on site to the door width, trimming the neoprene insert to match. Order a length equal to or greater than your door width. On a fire rated opening, follow Zero's published sweep install instructions so the UL10c listing holds: https://zensupply.com/content/pdf/zero-international/zero-door-sweeps-install-instructions.pdf

Surface-mounted. The aluminum retainer screws to the face of the door at the bottom, so there's no routing or door prep involved and you can retrofit it to an existing door. Zero publishes install instructions for its door sweeps at https://zensupply.com/content/pdf/zero-international/zero-door-sweeps-install-instructions.pdf.

The seal is a neoprene lip insert, not a brush or vinyl. The profile is 0.875 inch plus a 0.625 inch lip, so the lip hangs below the aluminum retainer to take up the gap between the door bottom and the threshold or sill. Neoprene holds up to weather and UV on an exterior opening better than a brush insert does.

The sweep seals the gap under the door leaf; it does not seal the floor line itself. On an exterior out-swinging opening you normally pair it with a threshold or saddle so the neoprene lip has a flat surface to ride against. The lip projects 0.625 inch below the 0.875 inch retainer, so set your threshold height against that when you're specifying both pieces together.

AA is Zero International's code for clear anodized aluminum, which is the finish this sweep ships in. It's a mill-silver look that pairs with aluminum storefront and most clear anodized thresholds and frames, so it blends on a glass front entrance without repainting anything.

It's a commercial-duty product. Zero International builds this line for commercial door sealing, and the UL10c fire rating puts it in the range of hardware specified on institutional, healthcare, education and multi-family openings rather than on a house door.
