1) Will the TB50M thread directly onto 1/2 inch rigid conduit, or do I need adapters?
Threaded hubs, so it makes up directly to 1/2 inch threaded rigid or IMC with no adapter. For EMT you need a set screw or compression connector into the hub, since EMT is not threaded.
2) Is the TB50M conduit body cast metal or sheet steel?
Malleable iron. That is the heavier cast body a contractor expects on a threaded rigid or IMC run, rather than a stamped sheet steel fitting, and it is what lets the hub threads take repeated makeup without deforming.
3) What is a Type TB conduit body used for on a conduit run?
A TB body is a three-opening fitting, used where a run has to branch or where you need a pull point at a tee. The TB50M handles that at 1/2 inch trade size in malleable iron. If you only need to turn a corner, an LB, LL or LR body is the fitting for that instead; if you need a straight pull point, use a C body.
4) Does the TB50M come with a cover and gasket?
Order the cover separately. Conduit bodies in this family are sold as the body itself, and the cover plate, gasket and screws are matched to the body size, so you would add a 1/2 inch cover to finish the TB50M off.
