1) What is an LR conduit body used for in a rigid conduit run?
An LR body is a side-outlet pull and access fitting. The through openings run in line with the conduit and the outlet comes off the right side as you look at the back of the body, which is what the "R" designates. You use it to turn a run around a corner or an obstruction and to get a hand in for pulling conductors, rather than fighting a sweep. The Thomas & Betts S35 LR comes with its cover, so the opening is closed up once the pull is done.
2) What conduit sizes does the Thomas & Betts S35 LR conduit body come in?

4) Is the S35 LR conduit body metal or plastic?
Malleable iron. That is the heavier-duty choice for exposed industrial and outdoor rigid runs where a body may take a knock, as opposed to a copper-free aluminum body. Threads are the standard tapered conduit thread, so it mates with threaded rigid conduit.
5) Do I need to buy a cover and gasket separately for this conduit body?
No. The S35 LR ships with its cover included, so you are not ordering a separate blank cover plate to close the body.
6) Should I use an LR or an LL conduit body?
Same body style, opposite outlet. LR takes the branch off the right side, LL off the left, viewed from the back of the body with the cover facing you. If the run has to turn the other direction, an LR will point you the wrong way. For a 90 that comes straight out at you toward the cover face, you want an LB instead.
7) Will this LR body thread onto EMT?
No, not directly. A malleable iron LR body of this type has threaded hubs for threaded rigid conduit, so EMT needs a threaded EMT connector or coupling adapter to land in the hub. Plan the transition fitting into the run if you are coming off EMT.
