Metallics RJK3B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What pipe sizes does the Metallics RJK3B roof jack cover?
The RJK3B is a stepped roof jack sized for 1/4 through 4, so one boot covers the common conduit and pipe penetrations on a roof instead of stocking a separate flashing for each diameter. You cut the cone down to the step matching the penetration you are sealing.
2) How big is the base flange on the RJK3B roof jack?
It has an 8 inch base. That flange is what sits on the roof deck and gets sealed or shingled over, so check you have 8 inches of clear flat surface around the penetration before ordering.
3) Can I use one Metallics RJK3B for several different conduit sizes on the same roof?
Yes, within its range. Because the RJK3B is a stepped 1/4 to 4 jack, an electrician running mixed conduit sizes through a roof can carry a single part number and trim each boot to the step that matches the run. Anything larger than 4 needs a different flashing.
4) Is a roof jack the right part for sealing electrical conduit where it exits a roof?
That is exactly what it is for. A roof jack is the flashing boot that weatherproofs a pipe or conduit penetration through a roof deck, and the Metallics RJK3B is the electrical-trade version covering 1/4 through 4 on an 8 inch base. It is not a support or a strut fitting, so you still need whatever standoff or strap holds the conduit above the roof.
