1) Will the Keystone KT-LED18PSHID-E26-8CSB-D work with my existing metal halide ballast, or do I need to remove it?
The lamp runs on line voltage of 120-277V, so the existing HID ballast has to come out and the socket wired directly to line power. It is not a plug-and-play ballast-compatible lamp. Once bypassed, the E26 medium base screws into the existing socket and the lamp replaces a 70W metal halide.
2) How do I set the wattage and color temperature on the Keystone Power Select / Color Select HID lamp?
Both are selected on the lamp itself before install, not at the driver or control. Power Select gives 18W, 12W or 9W, and Color Select gives 3000K, 4000K or 5000K. Lumen output follows the wattage you pick: 2500, 1700 or 1250 lumens. One part number covers all nine combinations, which is why a lot of facilities stock just this lamp instead of nine SKUs.
3) Does the Keystone KT-LED18PSHID qualify for a DLC or Energy Star utility rebate?
No. The lamp is not DLC listed, not DLC Premium, and not Energy Star. Most utility prescriptive rebate programs for LED lamps key off the DLC qualified products list, so this one will not clear those applications. If the rebate is part of your project economics, you need a DLC listed HID replacement.
4) Is this Keystone lamp dimmable on a standard 0-10V or phase dimmer?
It is step dimmable, not smoothly dimmable. That means fixed light levels rather than continuous control, so it will not behave correctly on a 0-10V or forward-phase dimmer. There is no wireless or networked control built in. If you need continuous dimming, specify a fully dimmable HID replacement instead.
5) Will a 360 degree LED HID replacement lamp give me the same light pattern as the metal halide it replaces?
The beam angle is 360 degrees, so light is thrown all the way around the lamp rather than pushed in one direction. In an open or enclosed fixture with a reflector, that matches how a metal halide arc tube distributed light. In a fixture where you want light driven down and out, like a high-bay aimed at an aisle, a directional LED retrofit does more for you than a 360 degree lamp.
6) I have a mix of 120V and 277V circuits across my buildings. Do I need two different part numbers?
One part number covers both. The KT-LED18PSHID-E26-8CSB-D accepts 120-277V, so the same lamp works on 120V in an office area and 277V in a warehouse bay. Combined with the selectable wattage and color temperature, a multi-site MRO buyer can standardize on a single stocked item.
7) Can I use this Keystone 18W lamp in a retail or healthcare space where color accuracy matters?
CRI is greater than 80, which is the normal threshold for retail, office and healthcare common areas. Pair that with the 4000K or 3000K setting for merchandise and patient areas, or 5000K where you want a cooler task look in back-of-house.
8) How long will these last before my maintenance crew is back up the ladder?
Rated life is 50,000 hours. Running 12 hours a day that is roughly 11 years of service, which is the main reason facilities swap 70W metal halide for this: the MH lamp needs relamping and eventually a ballast, this one does not.
9) Does anything else come in the box, like an LED module or socket adapter?
No separate LED module or accessory device is included. It is the complete lamp, 0.73 lbs, with an integral E26 medium screw base. You supply nothing but the socket, and you will need the ballast bypassed on the fixture side.
