1) Does this Keystone HID replacement lamp need the existing ballast removed, or does it run on the ballast?
This is a line voltage lamp, not a ballast-compatible retrofit. It accepts 120-277V input, so the HID ballast has to be bypassed and the socket wired direct to line voltage. No. It is step dimmable only, meaning output changes in fixed steps through the Power Select setting rather than smoothly on a 0-10V or phase dimmer. If your spec calls for continuous dimming or occupancy-based daylight harvesting, this lamp will not do it.
4) What light output do I actually get at each wattage setting on this 36W Keystone lamp?
Output runs 4800, 5200 and 5000 lumens across the selectable settings on the 36/27/18W lamp. Note the lumens do not simply scale with wattage, so if you are specifying for a footcandle target in a warehouse or parking structure, pick the setting by the lumen figure rather than assuming the highest wattage is the brightest.
5) Will this lamp light evenly in an open high bay or a wallpack-style HID fixture?
The lamp is a 360 degree beam angle omnidirectional type, so it throws light in all directions the way the HID arc tube it replaces did.
