Metallics SCU0200 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics SCU0200 strut clamp hold?
The SCU0200 is the 2 inch size in the Metallics universal strut clamp line, so it is the one to use on 2 inch conduit or pipe runs mounted to strut channel. If your run is a different trade size, you need the matching size in the series rather than this one.
2) Will a universal strut clamp mount straight to standard strut channel, or do I need extra hardware?
A universal strut clamp is made to drop onto strut channel and clamp the conduit against it, which is why electricians use it instead of a one-hole strap on a wall. Plan on a channel nut and bolt sized for your strut to pull it down, since the clamp itself is the conduit-holding half of the assembly.
3) Is the EG finish on the Metallics SCU0200 clamp suitable for outdoor or damp locations?
EG means electro-galvanized, which is a zinc plating intended for dry indoor and protected use. For exterior, rooftop, wet, or corrosive locations, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless strut clamp instead of the electro-galvanized SCU0200.
4) What part number do I order for a 2 inch Metallics universal strut clamp?
Order Metallics SCU0200. That is the full manufacturer part number for the 2 inch universal strut clamp in electro-galvanized finish, and it ships as a single configuration with no finish or size options to select.
